I was asked to write about something I’m thankful for, and the only thing that kept coming to mind was something not many realize is something to be thankful for.
But I am also thankful for the wind, which reminds me to keep standing even through a storm.
I am thankful for the trees who so effortlessly allow us to breathe and ask nothing in return.
I am thankful for the moon; for guiding us when the light has gone astray.
I am thankful for the Constitution of the United States, which people the freedom to be who they are and not what the government wants them to be.
I am thankful for the roof not only over my head, but over everyone’s head.
I am thankful for people who dedicate their lives to helping others.

I am thankful for every teacher I ever had, and will ever have, for teaching me things about the world we live in so that I can one day go out there and teach others the same lessons.
I am thankful for people who are not afraid of acting “strange”.
I am thankful for the people I have met through the risks I have taken.
I am thankful for those boys who hit me too hard with the dodgeball back in elementary school; you taught me to toughen up and I can keep up with you.
I am thankful for the many blankets I have for keeping me warm.
I am thankful for chocolate milkshakes, French Fries, and good times.
I am thankful for the family who raised me, the sorority who chose me, and the make shift family I found when joining an advice blog.
I am thankful for the creator of Tumblr, who allows me to express myself in a new and fun way.
I am thankful for people who pick up the random pieces of trash that isn’t theirs.
I am thankful for the opportunity to write for The Odyssey.
I am thankful for those who read my articles, stories, poems, and mindless scribbles.
I am thankful for many things, my cats who have come and gone from my life, my siblings whom I fight with from time to time, the people crazy enough to call me a friend, and my parents who has been with me always.
While most people thank their God(s), their families, their friends, and their homes, I can’t help but think “what about the other, less noticed things?” Perhaps that’s why I am thankful for the bee’s that help our planet keep spinning, and the farmers who dedicate their lives to growing food for others. All I know is that I am thankful for a lot of things, what are you thankful for?
