This year was the 44th annual event for March for Life, which is a peaceful demonstration to share the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, legalized abortion on demand, according to March For Life. Thousands and thousands of people gathered in Washington D.C. and marched for life, to end abortion and to stop the killing of an unborn human being. This year, I was blessed to be part of this miraculous day. On Friday, January 27, 2017 about 800,000 people, mostly young, marched a 10-mile march for humanity and for the right to live.
Beautifully, I experienced a wonderful feeling and was really moved by this peaceful event. I went with a group of sixty-five people from the Chaldean Catholic Church. There was a mass held at The Verizon Center in Washington D.C. before the march where there were bishops, priests, nuns and people from all around the world. I have never attended a mass with so many people like this before and the feeling was indescribable. Being part of this experience helped me realize that we have so many faithful people in our country and that the world is still at peace.
During the march, as I was looking at all the people around me, I was so happy because everyone had an angelic face. I felt like everyone felt blessed to be there just like I did and this is why everyone looked different for the first time in my life. In my daily life, I see people in rush and stressed all the time. This day was completely the opposite. Everyone was calm and I could see the joy in their eyes. I got to see a different world, a world so beautiful and so concerning about life. This day helped my realize how important humanity is and how each one of us is a miracle in this world.
Vice President Mike Pence gave his first speech since taking office at March for Life. This marked a historical day! For the first time, someone like the vice president gave a beautiful speech during this purposeful event. I myself feel lucky to had been there for this. This annual event is held for a very important cause and it was meaningful to everyone for the vice president to be there supporting. There were cameras everywhere and the event was aired on many channels. The crowd was chanting, praying and holding their pro-life signs up in hope to do one thing, stop abortion.
At the end of it, I experienced the most remarkable day of my life. My love for life has increased even more. This day showed me how everyone’s life matters greatly. I now am more reminded that just being alive is one of the greatest things in this world and that every single one of us is so amazing in the image of God. This event is a wake-up call to everyone to realize that life is beautiful and when a new life is conceived in the womb it must be protected because it is just as important and alive as you are.
