As the halfway mark of my college career quickly approaches, I can’t help but think about how fast this whole experience is going. Before I began my freshman year, my friends and family gave me some advice on things to expect. However, no one can really prepare you for what is to come ...
Weight gain.
We've all come to know and love the “holy s**t I am fat now” feeling. When you look back at pictures of your cute freshman year bod, all you want to do is cry. What's even worse is going out and seeing the girls who have yet to gain any weight. How the hell are they still skinny and hot? Do they not drink and eat whole pizzas on the weekends like a normal person?
Being broke.
There is no such thing as asking your parents for $20 as you walk out the door in college. You can call and beg them to transfer money into your pitiful bank account, but there's a very slim chance of that actually happening. It’s funny — you think you’re too broke to have money to buy food or alcohol, but somehow you still manage to make it work.
Bad decisions.
Coming home and peeing in a location that is not the bathroom or getting a** tattoos with your friends. Whatever it is, everyone makes those decisions that seem really great in the moment. And the best part is that someone always manages to capture the lapse in judgement via video, picture and/or Snapchat, ultimately getting you sent to standards.
Drunk texting.
Waking up in the morning and seeing all your texts are deleted, because even your drunk self knew you f***ed up. Or waking up in the morning, realizing you f***ed up and subsequently deleting all the incriminating evidence so no one can hold it against you.
Fighting with your friends.
College is one of the only times you get to live with all of your best friends. It's all fun and games until someone steals your last bobby pin or gets so mad they hide the HDMI cord, which results in you hiding all their clothes.
Bad hookups.
Unfortunately, it is inevitable. We all know what this feels like.
The good news is each and every negative has a positive. All these experiences will make for some great stories down the road.
