I'd like to thank everyone who has tried to protect my generation from throwing their lives away and for caring enough to give advice to the younger (or not younger) generation.
Thanks, but no thanks.
I have to ask why. Why can't the love of my life be a part of my life? Why do I have to live my life to the fullest before getting married?
I'm not naive to the fact that marriage will not be easy, and I'm not suggesting that every young adult should get married as soon as possible, but I believe that that advice is not just to be thrown around. If two people truly find love and decide they truly want to enjoy their lives together, how can anyone tell them they're wrong?
If someone wants to travel the world, good. If someone wants to get settled down, great. I'm tired of being looked at like I'm insane because I've decided that my life is better in one spot. I could travel the world if I wanted to, married or not; and contrary to popular belief- I can get married before or after I travel the world.
I understand the point, but it's not for everyone. Not everyone wants to single-handedly conquer the 7 continents before they settle down. I know that I do not. I fully support those whose life goals are to have experienced and find themselves before they get caught up in life, but I don't support telling every young girl she is throwing her life away by getting married before she has gone skydiving.
Marriage is hard. Children make it hard to go on adventures. This isn't new information to anyone, but stop acting like it's a complete life ruined.
There is no reason for a teenage girl or boy growing up believing their life will be over once they marry the love of their life. If you truly love someone, that's when the real adventure begins. No hike is easy or convenient, but it always brings you towards a better view.
I don't plan on running to the very first altar I see. I don't plan on marrying the first or even second person I fall in love with, but I'm fed up with society telling me when I can.
Thanks, but no thanks.
