The Ultimate Bromance

How to achieve a heightened state of best-friendlyness

The Ultimate Bromance

In the past many straight guys were often timid or unwilling to be friends or even openly and proudly associate themselves with a gay man for fear of being labeled gay themselves. I am happy to say that unfortunate paranoia is drifting farther and father away and for very good reason. Many straight and gay men are finding that they can achieve a heightened state of best-friendlyness the form of an ‘Ultimate Bromance’ with a man of opposite sexual orientation. Like the old maxim goes: ‘opposites attract.’ Here are some reasons why you need to achieve your own ‘Ultimate Bromance:’

Clean each other's closets

Much to my personal displeasure and though I would never admit it myself to them, I find that some of my straight male friends dress better than I do. Unless you happen to be Karl Lagerfeld, you definitely always have something to learn in the fashion department. Whether you are a straight or gay guy, you can more often expect partner in your bromance to be honest with you about you fashion choices because they just want you to be the best looking version of yourself.

Love Advice

Even Dr. Phil had marital problems, no one knows everything and having someone with a fresh set of eyes looking at your situation from a different point of view can be so helpful in deciphering what your love interest’s M.O. is.

No Taboo Topics

Sometimes it’s easier to talk about more sensitive subject matter beyond love life. Whether they are or not, often gay and straight friends do not feel in competition with one another so it is easier to unload one’s insecurities without fear of being judged or thought of differently.

Networking

Through our work, school, and life experience together we are all exposed to different people. Often, many gay and straight whom are good friends have vastly different social circles separate from their friendship, which do not overlap. Having a friend in a completely different milieu than you can expose you to new things, employment, and maybe even your soul mate.

Current Events

We all have different classifications of current events. For me it would be Godney otherwise known as Britney Spears. For someone else, it might be, What is happening in Syria, or Israel, or will Greece bring the Eurozone down. Regardless of where you stand, being on different news spectrums than your counterpart in your bromance can help you have a better-rounded view of the world.

Great Gym Buddy

Hey you know, we all love looking hot. And who doesn’t love someone to not judge them at the gym and tell them they are hot. You can be each others wingmen, the gym is the perfect place to find your McSteamy or Cara Delevingne.

Someone to introduce to your significant other

My straight friends love introducing me to their girlfriends because they know I'm not going to hit on them. It works the other way too, it is great to have someone you can completely trust to meet your significant other, give you their honest opinion, and more importantly not hit on them.

Best Bromance

These are some of the potentially limitless reasons why you should find your gay or straight counterpart. Why settle for being just best friends when you can achieve the Ultimate Bromance!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
