Traveling from U of I to the suburbs can be well…long and tiring. What makes the bus ride worse is running into these types of people. If you have been on a bus, you probably have seen one or two of these types of people.
The Creeper Sleeper.
It is very common to see people falling asleep on the bus. Once in a while, you might run into those who have troubles sleeping still. You will notice their heads moving closer and closer to you until his or her head is resting on your shoulder. Then, it becomes an uncomfortable situation since you want his or her head off of you, but you also don't want to wake them up.
The “When Was the Last Time You Have Taken a Shower?"
By being on the bus, you are confined to close spaces with others. That is why smells are intensified. If you are sitting next to someone who hasn't taken a shower in four days, all I can say is 'Good Luck.'
Chaty Kathys.
Typically, you witness two friends who haven't seen each other in a while reunite on the bus. This reunion causes squeals and loud chatter during the entire bus ride. I don't mind if there is conversation on the bus, but when two girls are talking about shampoo for an hour, this can become annoying.
The Ten-Time Bathroom Breaker.
I am always surprised how many people use the bathroom on the bus. To me it does not sound appealing, but there are always people who use it at least five times during the two and a half hour ride.
Five-Course Meal.
Like I said before, smells are intensified on the bus. When someone eats a five-course meal on the bus, everyone on the bus can smell it. This can cause people to feel nauseous or extremely hungry.
Mr. and Miss Flu.
To me, I think this is the worst situation out of them all. You can sit next to a stranger who looks really nice, but it turns out they are not healthy. Now you are faced with a bus ride of your seat partner sneezing and coughing while you are crossing your fingers that you won't get sick.
The Kicker.
Ahhh, peace and quiet, it's time for a beautiful nap. Then, you feel your seat getting kicked and it won't stop. Now, your nap is ruined.
The bus can be a nice and relaxing place or two and a half hours of terror. If you witness one of these types of people, just try to keep a positive attitude and know that someone out there knows what you are going through.
