Twin Sisters Can Be Great

Here are a few pros to having twin sisters.

Twin Sisters Can Be Great

I’m 15 months older than my sisters, who just happen to be twins. It has been an eventful [almost] 18 years since they have been born. I used to help my mom out with housework and taking care of my sisters. They needed their diapers changed? Guess who was right next to my mom with a pack of diapers? Me. When my sisters wanted my toys, I’d always share with them. But now that we’re older; it’s quite different. I’m here to tell you all of the pros of having twin sisters.

1. Sisters = friends, right?

Not only do you have one friend automatically, but you have two friends (in only a few minutes). You’re almost always guaranteed to have at least one there to hang out with you. You have two people that will always be there. Have an amazing story about the cute boy you saw yesterday? Two people who actually want to know what is going on in your life. Need to release some stress but don’t know where to begin? Two people who can talk it out with you. Want some food but don’t want to eat a restaurant by yourself? Two lovely sisters who would happily eat a meal with you (when you pay for their food — which has happened numerous times).

2. Need some clothes?

The great thing about my sisters is that they like to dress a bit dressier than me. My closet is full of T-shirts, jeans, shorts, crew necks, flip-flops and Nikes. Their closet has all of that plus cute dresses, skirts, blouses and dressy shoes. When I was going to my first job interview, I needed something dressy to wear; so of course I went to their closet and wore one of their dresses. The downside? “You wore my dress last year! Why can’t I wear this shirt?” Now, I may sound unreasonable because I didn’t allow her to wear my shirt, but what you don’t know is that she literally had the same shirt. Same color, same brand, same size, same everything.

3. Birthdays

We’re all close enough in age that we usually know what each other want. Luckily for us, if we don’t, we have another person to ask. Even better for me, I get to ask their twin sister. Who knows someone better than their twin sister?

4. Constant entertainment

My sisters share a bathroom, while I have my own. Almost daily they fight over who is showering first, how they’re wearing their hair and almost every other conversation that goes on in a bathroom. When I’m already awake, it’s hilarious at times because I text my friends and we laugh at how ridiculous they are. We have a total of four showers in the house. My sisters could shower at the SAME time, but that isn’t possible, right? No one is going to care that both of them are wearing their hair straight or curled or braided or any other way. They don’t yell at me when I’m wearing my hair the same way; why yell at each other? It’s even more entertaining when my dad is home and gets annoyed. He gets up from his seat to walk upstairs, and I turn down my music so I can listen better.

5. Best co-workers

I don’t know many siblings who actually want to work together. When my sisters started looking for a job, I said, “Oh, you can come work with me.” Of course, it was partially sarcastic, but now I don’t regret it at all. What’s better than working with two people you’re not afraid to tell when they’re doing something wrong or stupid? Literally nothing. They’re some of the best employees we have, and it’s because I can tell them what past employees have done right or wrong. It’s even better when one of us need to get a shift switched because we can go to each other first.

Twin sisters are the best thing to have happened to my life. It does get slightly crazy at times, but my life would be completely different if I didn’t have them. I don’t tell my sisters that I love them enough, but I definitely do. With all of my heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
