Twenty-Five More Important Issues than Getting 100 Likes on Your Selfie

  1. Mass Shootings and Violence- The U.S. has had more mass shootings than any other country in the world. This violence needs to end.
  2. The Bees Are Dying- Bees are dropping dead at alarming rates. If bees go extinct, honey won’t be the only thing missing from our grocery stores.
  3. Climate Change- Maybe it’s real, maybe it’s not. Try explaining that to the polar bears.
  4. Racism- The color of someones skin does not define their personality or the way they should be treated. They are people too.
  5. SeaWorld- Killer whales belong in the ocean, not in a tiny swimming pool. The effects captivity has on the whales is not only physical, but psychological and emotional.
  6. Gender Wage Gap- The U.S. women’s soccer team made $20 million more in revenue than the men’s team last year, however the women were paid only a quarter of what the men made. Professional soccer is not the only place where women are paid less than men.
  7. Dissatisfaction with Our Government- This was ranked the number one issue with Americans. Go do something about it and start using your Instagram for good!
  8. Rape Culture- Brock Turner, need I say more?
  9. Obesity- Burger King just released Mac’N’Cheese Bites crusted in deep fried Cheetos. This needs to stop.
  10. Feminism- If you think oppression in America is bad, check out the treatment of women in the Middle East.
  11. Body Shaming- Social media is directly responsible for the increase in body shaming.
  12. Equality- Regardless of your gender, race, or sexual orientation people are people and they should be treated equally.
  13. America’s Legal System- A person can get more jail time for smoking weed than for committing rape. That is not okay.
  14. Hunger- Hunger is not just a problem in third world countries, it’s happening in our own backyards.
  15. Mental Health Awareness- Suicide is the third leading cause of death in young adults.
  16. Over fishing- Say goodbye to spicy tuna rolls.
  17. “Brexit”- This may not directly affect you, but Brittian deciding to leave is major event in history.
  18. Immigration Laws- Donald Trump may want to build a wall, but the truth is immigrants help shape our country into the place it is today.
  19. Zika Virus- Not only is this affecting women in other countries, but its also affecting the Olympics, travelers, and many more.
  20. Malnutrition in Urban Areas- You can find more McDonald’s than health food stores.
  21. Hazardous Zoo Enclosures- When are we going to stop being shocked when wild animals attack people after being trapped in captivity.
  22. Gun Control- It’s a matter of safety.
  23. Education in Inner Cities- A reform needs to happen.
  24. Water Crisis- The drought in California is affecting thousands of people.
  25. Living More in the Real World- Its time to put your phone down and start taking mental pictures.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
