It’s December--regardless of whether or not you celebrate Christmas, it’s often expected that you give your friends and family a gift around the holidays. If you’re like me, it can be difficult to think of something to get them. If you’re in a pinch, here are some suggestions:
- Make them something. Go to a craft store and pick up some glass ornaments and decorate them, or get some mugs and make them colorful. Craft stores are your best friends around the holidays.
- Go thrifting. Goodwill and other thrift stores are great places to find gifts that are cute and personal without breaking the bank.
- Bake them a batch of homemade cookies.
- This one requires a bit of planning, but if you can, throughout the year write down whenever a friend or family member talks about something they think is cool or they’d like to have. When the holidays (or their birthday) rolls around, you’ve already got something to go off of!
- Make them a mixtape of favorite songs.
- Take them out for lunch or dinner instead of getting them a gift. Hand them a card giving well wishes as you leave for an extra touch!
- Make them an un-made mug of hot cocoa: get an extra-large mug, and fill it with packs of hot chocolate mix, complete with mini marshmallows. Wrap it up in cellophane and you’re good to go!
- Check out dollar stores near you for small things that you can put together to form a cute gift.
- Make a homemade card--it’s heartfelt and shows that you put a lot of thought into it.
- Gift cards are always a good choice, whether it’s for a store or just for lunch.
Good luck!
