Father’s Day is a whole day to think of our own dads. It’s a day to celebrate them and think about how much they’ve done for you in your life. Let’s use this day to also give a shoutout to the favorite dads from TV. They all show that they truly can prove that they are #DadGoals.
1. Danny Tanner, Jesse Katsopolis, and Joey Gladstone (“Full House”):
Okay...so technically only one of them was a dad in the start of the show’s run. But because of widowhood, he had to call on two other dudes to help him raise his family of three girls. They all had to learn to not only be dads but also moms. And they managed to pull it off nicely. They were the OG dads, who provided life lessons, jokes, and good looks all rolled into one.
2. Cory Matthews (“Girl Meets World”):
TV sequels usually end up to be letdowns. The spin off show of the 90s sitcom show, “Boy Meets World”, cleverly titled “Girl Meets World” didn’t disappoint. The young Cory Matthews grew up to be a history teacher in New York City. Along with that, he is a family man, with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Topanga, and their two children, Riley and Auggie. Having Cory as a dad meant some crazy shenanigans, but also valuable life lessons and parenting that became organic and even can relate to everyday life. The show’s cancelation was a downer but every fan can always know the series and characters still lives on in their hearts.
3. Burt Hummel (“Glee”):
This guy was a true character. He’s a single father, who’s been trying to raise his son alone for quite some time. Then when he finds out about his son’s homosexuality, he’s totally unfamiliar with it at first, but steps up and embraces his differences wholeheartedly. He became the most supportive, understanding, and protective dad of his son, his stepson, and even the entire Glee club.
4. Dr. Heathcliff “Cliff” Huxtable (“The Cosby Show”):
Can we look past the Cosby drama for just a second? I understand that what he did was unpardonable. But he was also a very cool dad on television. Cliff Huxtable was a family man who always made time for his kids -- all five of them. The character was imbued with a great sense of humor and caring soul, which made him a poster dad for everyone. It’s too bad what’s become of his portrayer.
5. Phillip Banks (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”):
This guy was tough and short-tempered, but he always had a generous heart. Not only a dad to his three (later four) children, but he also took his nephew Will in and welcomed him into the family. He became a father figure to Will, stepping in from the place his own father had left, and always looked out for him underneath scolding him.
