One of the best things about television shows are the romances. It's so fun to watch two characters fall in love and follow their journey. Everyone loves a good romance, right? However, sometimes couples that don't make sense are put together and they just completely ruin the show. Here are five TV couples that should have never happened.
1. Lucas Scott and Brooke Davis - "One Tree Hill"
It was made clear from the very first episode that Lucas Scott was in love with Peyton Sawyer. Although, like any tv-scripted love story, obstacles stood in their way of a happily ever after. At one point, Lucas gave up on his fantasy of Peyton and moved on to her best friend, Brooke Davis. Although, he didn't actually move on because he cheated on Brooke with Peyton...twice. They had some cute moments, but it was clear that Lucas' heart was never fully with Brooke. He always made her feel insecure and never put her first.
Brooke Davis deserved better.
2. Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert - "The Vampire Diaries"
This relationship is the definition of toxic, which the characters themselves had admitted to many times. Their whole relationship was basically fighting, having sex, and then fighting some more. To make matters worse, Elena went from being completely in love with Stefan Salvatore to being completely in love with Damon in the span of one episode! Their relationship was very forced and nothing but a product of fan service!
3. Ross Geller and Rachel Green - "Friends"
Here's another relationship that was so incredibly toxic that it's hard to believe people absolutely adore them. Ross was always trying to control Rachel's life, from her work to who she hung out with, even when they weren't romantically involved. Not to mention, he was extremely manipulative, didn't care about Rachel's opinions and always tried to diminish who she was as a person and let his jealousy control him.
Like Brooke Davis, Rachel Green deserved better.
4. Ryan Attwood and Marissa Cooper - "The O.C"
First off, their relationship was way more complicated than it needed to be. Every time they took one step forward, they took another twenty steps back. During the rare times they were actually together and somewhat happy, they were extremely boring and their chemistry was stale.
5. Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf - "Gossip Girl"
"Gossip Girl" was one of those shows where everyone dated everyone. At one point, I think the writers just thought to themselves "Who haven't we paired together yet?" and then put those couples together. Blair was always against Serena dating Dan, yet she dated him, too. Another couple that made no sense.
