It’s the middle of summer vacation, the hottest days of the year are just about here. I might be whining just a little bit too much when I say that Tulsa summers are atrociously muggy and hot! A lot of people are looking for excuses to stay indoors in their well-conditioned houses. Others are looking for reasons to enjoy this heat outside. I also love food, a lot! Tulsa has some pretty good hidden gems. I’ve comprised a list of events in July that you won’t want to miss, mostly because of the food there.

Wednesday Nights in the Deco District (Downtown Tulsa)

On Wednesday nights on Boston Avenue between 5^th and 6^th street, you can find $2 Puffy Tacos at Elote, $2 Gelato at Mod’s, and $2 Candy Bags at Candy Castle!

Bowl-n-Spoon Grand Opening

Everyone’s inner child is just bursting with joy! Oklahoma’s first sit-down cereal café opens July 9^th. It’ll run from 9am-10pm near 45^th and Peoria. You’ll be able to create your own breakfast with the help of their “cereal mixologists”. With 30 different cereals and more than 20 different toppings, you’ll be in for a treat.

Tulsa Honey Sale

On July 23^rd, Shadow Mountain Honey Company will be selling its jars of local honey at their home site. First come, first serve, their pint jars are only $15 and $18 with honeycomb. Just south and East of 61^st and Sheridan, their address is 6332 S 69^th E. Place.

Bastille Day Party in Tulsa

July 14^th Antoinette’s Baking Co will be hosting a Bastille Day party with Cake Shakes, Macaron Shakes, and more! They had me at cake shake. Throw that summer diet away and enjoy a shake on Bastille Day from 2-5pm. [207 N Main St Tulsa, OK].

Cupcake House Tasting

The Cupcake House is hosting a Cupcake Tasting Event. They have 5 new flavors to share. For $5 you can try 3 of the 5 flavors, or $6 for all the cupcakes. They will have drinks for you to savor these delights, including a Mimosa BAR for those that are 21+.

Poolside Food Trucks

Every Friday night at 5pm at the Park Plaza South Pool there will be a food truck! July 1^st features Taquiara Cinco De Mayo. Bohemia on July 8^th, T.Town Gourmet on Julyt 15^th, Meltdown (best grilled cheeses) on July 22^nd, and Crunch on July 29^th. FYI, Crunch has hands down the best nachos I’ve ever tasted.

Freedom Fests

July 1^st, Bixby holds their annual Freedom fest at 7pm. Their on site food vendors include but not limited to: Mod’s, Mr Nice Guys, Josh’s Sno Shack, and The Local Table. [121^st & S. Memorial Dr.]

July 4^th, Tulsa’s Freedom Fest will include food trucks at both Veterans Park and River West Festival Park from 5pm-10pm.

With all that’s going on this month, I don’t think there will ever be a dull moment for your taste buds!
