The truth about mistakes and guilt:

In life you're going to make mistakes time to time. You are going to repeat them maybe once or twice and you're going to regret them. Mistakes and guilt coincide and affect your life all the time. Everyone has had a guilty feeling that causes a lack of appetite or a constant thought of what you did. I have made many mistakes in my life, and I know that. I have repeated them over and over and have justified them in my head.

The truth is, no one is perfect and no one ever will be. I always thought all my life that I have to do things for other and to always put others before myself and I still do. An important lesson I learned a little late in life is that “It’s ok to be selfish”, you just have to watch out for hurting others.

In my college years, I have been hurt and people have hurt me. Relationships have gone wrong, I did not think before I did something, and people have said hurtful things but that is what happens to everyone. Things go wrong in life and that’s ok, the only thing you can do is apologize and move on. Every day is a new day even if it is hard to see that sometimes. You think constantly about what you did and it blocks you from moving on. It stops you from living your life. I am far from a perfect person and the only thing I can do is say I am sorry and try to work with the person on our relationship.

In my past with all the missteps I have made, I learned to forgive. Forgive everyone no matter how hard it is. A grudge will consume you and take over your life. A grudge is going to hold you back. It takes time to get over hurt and people understand that. It is important to let the person heal but to also try to fix the relationship. Sometimes it is unfixable but most cases it is, just with time. No relationship is worth losing or something that can be talked out or dealt with over time.

We try to justify what we did but honesty, sometimes we don’t even know why we did it. The older you get, the harder it is to justify why you did it. You are supposed to be older and wise but to be completely blunt, that’s far from the truth. Just because you grow up doesn’t mean that you're not going to make mistakes or relive some of your past. Yes, you are older and maybe wiser, but that doesn’t mean we have learned from every mistake we made or have seen being made.

Everyone is going to get hurt in life but its how you deal with it that’s important. Everyone is going to hurt someone but how you handle the repercussions and talk to the person is how it will be fixed. When your hurt, holding it in makes it worse and one day you're going to explode on someone. The only way to handle the pain or hurt is to talk to the person who caused it. The only way to handle guilt is to tell the person how sorry you are and hopefully, in time you can move past it. you can work on the relationship but don’t let the guilt consume you so much that your daily life becomes affected. Feeling guilty will only get you so far. For the best of friends, now matter how much you hurt each other they will always be there and come back. Those closest to you will forgive you and accept you for all the flaws you have.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
