Trump Sues Cruz

Can Trump's harsh accusations cause Cruz to fall behind?

Seeing Donald Trump in the news is no longer shocking. He is always gaining media attention with his outrageous and often offensive comments. At this point many American's have learned to tune him out and focus on some of the more professional candidates in the race. However, when Trump announced that he would be suing Ted Cruz because of his origin of birth, it was hard not to roll our eyes and tune back into the circus of a campaign that Trump is running.

Trump first brought up the birther lawsuit after Cruz began showing a new ad which addressed the possibility that Trump would not choose a conservative judge to take the place of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The ad revels that Trump had leaned liberal on several issues in the past and it tries to sway the voters into believing that he is untrustworthy and not as conservative as he says. Trump threatened Cruz with the lawsuit saying that he would sue if the ad continues. The threat was seen only as a platform for extra media attention as Cruz was able to look strong by saying that he will now play the ad more often.

Many are wondering if there is any truth behind the lawsuit. Cruz was born in Canada, so can he be the President of the United States? While Cruz was not born in the United States, he is still a natural born citizen because his mother was an American Citizen who gave birth to him abroad. Being that Cruz is a natural born citizen one would think that Trump's lawsuit holds no water, and that would be correct. Trump is quoted asking the people at one of his rallies if he should sue Cruz "just for fun." This indicates that Trump is just trying to gain extra media attention with yet another ridiculous stunt.

So while he will lose the lawsuit, Trump still seems to be coming out on top as he has gained a lot of media coverage because of the issue. It ends up that creating a rivalry is a great way to gain people's attention and votes. And since Trump knows he can't get the ad to stop being shown he is trying to use the ad to his advantage. Trump says that for the past two years, he has been openly against Obamacare and he has shared his plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act in many of his speeches. Trump's statement is meant to show not only that the ad is wrong about his liberal views but also show that Cruz is not to be trusted.

As Trump continues to be in the spotlight, he will continue to bash the other competitors with harsh words. While the majority of us feel we can see past the lies, the polls seem to say otherwise. Trump has won both New Hampshire and South Carolina and he has the vote of many white Evangelical Christians giving him an edge in the Bible Belt. So, while it may be easy to tune out the antics coming from Trump's campaign, it may be important for us to begin really listening to what he has to say. Not because what he says is right, but because if enough people believe in him, he may just be the next President.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
