When you are four years old you are sent to school. You are first taught how to read, write, and color. As you grow in your mental capacity and age you begin to learn history, laws, science, math, and how to be active. In fourth grade history class you learn about how you are an American, the laws, and the concepts of what makes you an American. You learn about the Fourteenth Amendment: Once born here you are an American citizen. You carry this on to higher grades learning more about our Country. The most awe-inspiring thing about learning this, at least for me, was that your fore fathers could be from a different land. Now fast forward to now. You are an adult, and have learned all there is to know from your history and civics teachers in high school. You have become conscious of the world around you. You see racism, Planned Parenthood, political debates, etc. The bright beaming spot light that is your mind focuses on to the political debates, and candidacies. You become aware of many of the candidates that are running for president and what the are proposing for as a future president.
The one person making the most noise is a billionaire whose name is Donald Trump. He would seem like the one person who can make a difference in our country because he can’t be bought or bribed; until he opens his mouth. Lets forget about his past. Lets forget about the fact that he violated his first wife, publicly bashed Hilary Clinton about her husband cheating on her, said he would date his own daughter- yes his own daughter- if she wasn't his, told a former Apprentice contestant “It would be a pretty picture to see you [her] on her knees”, swatting away Meghan Kelly’s relevant, thought provoking questions with a statement such as “She must be on her period,” and saying that John McCain- who was a prisoner of war for FIVE years- was no war hero because he was captured. Lets focus on his Presidential speech announcement for 2016. “...The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. Its true. And these aren’t the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people their not sending their best. Their not sending you. Their not sending you. Their sending people who have lots of problems and their bringing their problems with us. Their bringing drugs, their bringing crime. Their rapist. And some I assume are good people; but I speak to boarder guards. And they tell us what we are getting; and it all makes perfect sense...”
Now lets talk about this: Mexico does not send people to another country. Mexico is in a state of economic hardship, country wide drug trafficking, and harsh gang controlled cities. The people that are being sent as Trump is trying to emphasize; are running from that to America. America is where they can be free to have a family, be safe, make a living, and be proud of themselves. Common sense would dictate that you not bring with you the bad that you leave. I live in Northern Louisiana. I have never in my life encountered a “Lazy Mexican”. The Latinos I see are hard working people. They wake up at the break of dawn got to work: May it be in 106 degree heat, or strapped to a pole over water building a bridge. Trump is saying that they are the reason our country has lost its vigor. Trump reminds me of a man who was bullied by a group of people when he was young, grew up to be a leader of their nation, and sought to have every single person of that nationality or religion be captured, abused, maimed, terrorized, and killed: to create a Utopia.
Sounds familiar? That is the description of Adolf Hitler. What Donald Trump is saying echoes to people who wish all other people of color be wiped out. He is almost siding with them and giving them a political God. Trump and Hitler are similar in how much attention they have or are gaining. The support is almost as astonishing in Trump’s case. We can look back at Hitler’s genocide of the Jewish people, say its wrong, but we cannot- people of the 21st century- say that it is ok to single out one particular group of people, to say they need to be wiped out or in his words ‘deported’. A portion of this nation is ignorant, uneducated, and highly opinionated about the wrong things. They are the ones who may well decide the fate of 11 million people because someone, who has no right to be running for president, that only wants to make himself more famous, gain more money, and carry out his own agenda, disregarding all others safety or life. We as educated, well-rounded people who do not need to let this new age Hitler launch a mass, arbitrary seizure of families, culture, workers, and human beings from our nation. It is time for some one to stand up for what is ethical, right, and morally great for our nation. What happened in Germany- the genocide of millions of Jewish people- should not be a possibility for the Latin Americans residing legally or illegally in America.
