With Election Day rapidly closing in, people are stuck with a choice of iffy candidates. It’s very evident that most people aren’t thrilled about the candidates and it’s easy to see why. We are stuck between voting for two egotistical nut-cases that are more invested in their own interest than ours. The two alternatives to dumb and dumber don’t really seem to spark much national excitement either. However, I’ve come up with an even better alternative. It’s been tested in several towns and I feel that, with the rather depressing options we have, it’s worth it to give it a shot for the nation.
In Rabbit Hash, Kentucky the mayor has been testing something. Mayor Lucy Lou has been mayor in Rabbit Hash since 2008. She’s had interviews with CBS, received donations from Readers Digest, and landed a spot 3 years in a row in CityBeat Magazine’s Best of Cincinnati Best Elected Official category.
Also, Lucy Lou is a dog.
She’s not the only non-human elected official in the United States. Stubbs the cat from Talkeetna, Alaska, Bosco the dog from Sunol, California, and Henry Clay III the goat from Lajitas, Texas have all won positions as mayors. None of these towns have experienced human mayors in 10 years, with Henry Clay III being the third goat mayor in Lajitas in a row since 1986.
You’ve probably seen where I’m going with this -- I’m suggesting we vote an animal for the next President of the United States.
However, a major problem with all of these candidates is that most animals don’t fulfill a basic requirement of being president. None of them have reached 35 and most can't. As some of us probably noticed this was an issue for Waka Flacka Flame when he began his bid for president.
Because of this issue, I’ve found a candidate that I’m going to nominate. This candidate has helped bring his own species away from extinction and is over 100 years old. His name is Diego, and he is from the San Diego Zoo. He was recently in the news for his achievement of saving his species from extinction. What says he couldn’t save ours too?
