The current presidential administration is consuming our lives every day. Literally every day. Every. Single. Day. We can't go one day without hearing the latest news story about what the people in the White House are up to. Because everything they do is newsworthy. Everything they do is completely insane and tyrannical to the point where we constantly question the future of our nation as a democracy. They lie, they restrict human rights, and the president is always tweeting his angry thoughts on impulse. The leaders of the current administration don't even care about democracy. To them, the Constitution is just paper with words on it.
This has never happened before. We've never had a U.S. president make the headlines this often. Until this point, we've always had a normal (relatively speaking) president. Look at a list of the first 44 presidents. They're all people who have had at least some qualifications. But now we have a tyrannous, fascist, bigoted, white male supremacist man-child in the Oval Office occupying space 45 on the list.
This has never happened before.
And now he's on the president list permanently. He will now appear in federal buildings displaying portraits of the presidents. He will now appear in U.S. history textbooks, on the page listing the presidents. He will even appear on those novelty rulers you see at a museum gift shop. All future generations of children will be forced to look at the face of the 45th President of the United States.
And to top it all off, he comes directly after President Obama, one of the most benevolent U.S. presidents we've ever had in the history of our democratic nation. Wonderful comparisons to be made there.
This is constant.
Every day there's something making the headlines. Every day someone from the White House does or says something completely bats**t crazy. We can't escape it. We want it to be over soon. We just want it to end already. We just want to be able to sleep at night again.
And it just can't end soon enough.
Let's hope it even ends at all.
