For those of you who know me, you know that I’m addicted to Burt’s Bees chapstick. For those of you who don’t know me…I guess the secret’s out.
Some people are addicted to chocolate. Some people are addicted to Netflix. I, myself, am addicted to Burt’s Bees chapstick. For those of you who don’t know, Burt’s Bees is an Earth friendly brand of personal care products such as facial and skin care, hair care, outdoor remedies, lip care, and much more.
Why Burt’s Bees brand chapstick and not another brand, you ask? Despite the popularity of ChapStick brand, Nivea brand, Blistex, and EOS lip balms, there is something about Burt’s Bees that has got me hooked. It might possibly be the tingly mint flavor but I’m not quite sure. One thing is for sure though; I will never be a traitor to my true blue [even though it’s actually yellow] favorite chapstick.
Plenty of people like chapstick and use it regularly, right?. So, how do I know I'm addicted? These following reasons might sum it up for you. Maybe you'll even realize that you're addicted too:
- Burts Bee’s Beeswax Lip Balm (with Vitamin E & Peppermint…none of that honey nonsense) is my kind, and I refuse to use anything else.
- I find myself using words such as addiction, withdrawal, remission, etc., when I’m talking about my chapstick use.
- I strategically place my Burt’s Bees in about 10 different locations for whatever may arise. There is at least 1 in each of my purses, each of my school bags, and in the pockets of each of my coats. Excessive? Whatever, judge me.
- When my friends smell mint they’re past the point of saying, “is someone chewing gum? I smell mint!” but instead look directly at me…and usually ask to borrow some.
- It’s gotten to the point where people tell me that if they see a Burt’s Bees chapstick or smell it they think of me…if that’s not sad I don’t know what is.
- My friends are genuinely confused (and sometimes angry) when I forget to bring my Burt’s Bees out.
- My lips feel naked without it.
- Most people’s “grab-and-run-out-the-door” items include their phone, wallet, and keys. Mine include my phone, wallet, keys, and Burt’s Bees.
- I get irrationally nervous when I reach into my purse or pocket and can’t find my Burt’s Bees…and then irrationally upset when I realize it’s not there.
- All this talking about Burt’s Bees is making me realize I need some right now and as soon as I finish typing this sentence I am going to go put some on.
Yes, I know that according to many doctors, technically you can’t really become addicted to lip balm, but instead appear to be addicted due to the development of sensitivity to components in the lip balm. I have always been a sensitive person…I guess I can now add Burt’s Bees chapstick to the list!
Note: I actually applied Burt’s Bees Lip Balm upon the completion of sentence #10.
