The struggle of working at the mall over winter break is real. The crazy moms, bratty children and angry fathers are never coming to an end. First, you get hit with the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle. Then comes the immense returns of many unhappy people. Working in the mall over winter break is interesting to say the least. I’m currently working at Abercrombie and Fitch and defining it as "interesting" is an understatement. There are many struggles that come along with working in the mall over winter break and here are just a few:
1. Mean mothers with short tempers.
These women are ruthless.
2. So many returns.
3. Bratty children.
They want everything, which is just not an option and they don’t realize it.
4. Stealing.
Come on, people, just be nice.
5. You fight for parking at the beginning of every one of your shifts.
6. Does anyone know how to put things away after themselves?
7. If it’s hanging, leave it that way…
8. When you've folded up the whole store, only to have someone come along and destroy the whole thing.
9. When people think it's fun to chit chat in the store when you’re supposed to be closing.
10. You constantly need to find things to entertain yourself when it’s not busy.
11. You spend way too much money in your own store.
Why?
12. When there is employee drama.
”Samantha hooked up with Chris… no way!”
13. When customers try to trick you into using an expired coupon.
Just no.
14. Sometimes you have to eat alone in the food court and it’s just awkward.
15. When you say hi to a customer and they automatically say “just looking."
Relax, I was just being nice.
16. The noise.
It’s so loud, and it never stops.
If you're with me and you are enduring all of these things over your winter break, just let me remind you there are only two weeks left! We can get through it!
