What Tri Love Week Means to Me: According to my Sisters

I am a sister of Tri Delta on my campus, and once a year we have a week dedicated to spreading the love and reminding others to do the same. While the biggest goal of the week is to make everyone feel loved, there are many facets to Tri Love Week. From loving your body, to reminding others that they are loved, to taking time to love the wonderful accomplishments you have achieved, the week is meant to emphasize the importance of love, respect, and compassion. I asked some of my fellow sisters what Tri Love week meant to them, and here is the list they came up with.

1. It means I can talk about how much I love myself without getting judgmental looks.

Tri Love week is about celebrating the things that you love and self-love is high on the list of things I will be celebrating. If it is okay to remind others how great they are, why shouldn't you be able to remind yourself?

2. It means opening the conversation about how compassion is something we all need.

Even if sometimes we aren't sure how to ask for it.

3. It means I can remind the people I care about what they mean to me without having to wait for a holiday or a birthday.

Because everyday is a good day to tell a pal they're great.

4. It means I get to share the support I get from my sisters with the entire campus.

Because we are all part of the same community and a cup of cares has no bottom. Shower everyone in love and support, which might even be better than cash.

5. It means I don't have to be afraid to open myself to other people for support.

Because I know other people are going through things too and someone else might have the same troubles as me.

6. It means I get embrace being unapologetically myself everyday.

Because I'm not sorry.

7. It means I can call attention to my positive qualities rather than focusing on all the negative.

Because despite that exam, my hair still looks great today.

8. It means I can demand what I deserve.

Because I'm a person and worth being treated to the highest.

9. It means I can spew love at others and they can't refuse my love.

Because sometimes people need to learn to take a frickin' compliment.

10. It means embracing my body.

Because its been kind to me and it deserves some love in return.

11. It means Sarah Ida Shaw was right when she said "If you can't love yourself, how the hell are you going to love somebody else?"

(JK that was Ru Paul)

No matter what Tri Love Week means to you, get out and spread the love to your friends, your family, your professors, your barista, your dog, and yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
