The Grateful Dead sing, “Ain't no time to hate / barely time to wait" in their song “Uncle John's Band," and that is one line that could describe this amazing event in total. What better way to celebrate than to get together with your sorority sisters with crawfish, jambalaya, large party cups, bubbles, face paint and an amazing band?
Now, let's fast forward to before Blind Tie when every girl was stressing about whether their party cup should be tie dye or Grateful Dead-themed. Blind Tie is an event based on blind dates, so the stress about being set up was also high, but in the end nothing mattered but the good vibes.
During Blind Tie, every Delta (unless she's taken by a deserving man) gets set up with a date by her friends. Every set-up pair has a matching prop, so when the guys arrive an hour after the girls, they find their date based on the matching prop. Cute, right? It can be a bit stressful but it always ends up being a great time.
Now this year, we were graced with constant rain four days prior to the event, so everyone was ankle-deep in mud. No worries; everyone just took their shoes off and had the real hippie experience.
We Deltas need to definitely thank the one and only Julia Hebert for putting this whole event together, because it was an absolute blast. Here is a fun fact you might not know about this event: people got in touch with their elementary gym days. How? Well, remember that large, red, yellow, green, and blue parachute that people would all hold while others ran under? Add some booze and you have yourself one activity that kept the boys totally intrigued. Also, a big thanks to the landowner who decided to guest appear and hang out a bit. He was a KA here at LSU, and he absolutely rocks for letting Tri Delta use his property.
Let's talk about the fashion statements made at this event—flash tats, face jewels, round glasses, tie dye, bandannas, hats, jorts, flower crowns and stacks of rings are some of the many bold statements made at Blind Tie 2015.
A quick shout out to all the guys that got set up/attended the event; you guys absolutely killed it and every single date's outfit was on point. I am sure Instagram was fire with all the Blind Tie posts including all of the hippie puns imaginable, but I am sure we kept the social media interesting for that day and even a couple days after the event.
Every sorority has amazing events down the row, but I am proud to say that my sorority puts together such an incredible event to forget about stress, let all the creativity out, bond and let loose right before finals come around.
