There's been an overwhelming amount of media coverage on Target's new bathroom policy. This policy simply states that a person may use the bathroom of whichever gender they identify with.
This does not mean that a man can put on a dress and enter the ladies' room. This means that a transgender woman will enter the bathroom, use it, wash her hands, and leave.
This country is so scared of things they don't understand that they are claiming that this is a doorway for rapist and pedophiles. My question is, do rapists have bladders? Yes? Well, then that means they're already using the restroom anyway. Whether they're in the bathroom with your son or daughter, they're still there. Until we have a "separate bathroom" for criminals, this problem will always be prevalent.
A man is not allowed to enter a women's restroom. Period. A transgender woman is. If you don't respect the difference between those things, then there is another problem in your heart entirely. Trans people have been using the restroom for years. I guarantee you you've peed next to one of them in your lifetime. The only thing this policy does is protect their rights.
Let me ask you this? What makes you more uncomfortable? Watching this person walk into a bathroom behind your daughter:

Because I have news for you. If you believe that you need to use the bathroom that correlates with our birth certificate, then the woman on the top will have to use the men's room at a truck station, and the bottom will be peeing next to your daughter. But the only ones in "danger" will be them.
But the purpose of this article is not to try and persuade the closed-minded. I want to focus on things that are so much more important than fighting over a bathroom.
These are things you should be worrying about instead:
News flash: We can't breathe without trees.
That's less than 15 years away. The world is already breaking out into war over the scarce supply of oil. Can you imagine how bad it will be once we run out of something so precious as water?
Bottom line is, our world is deteriorating and people are turning a blind eye. These aren't opinions or exaggerations; these are facts. People need to stop worrying about who is in the stall next to their child, and start worrying about how your children will be able to live past 50.
We made this mess; it's not too late to fix it. If you want to protect your kids, give them a chance to survive.
Stop wasting time forcing other people into molds they don't fit in. There is so much more we need to talk about.
