Summertime is the pentacle of road trips, lazy days, and pool time relaxation. None of these events are complete without music! Here are my top ten picks for summertime tunes:
10. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)- Adele
Off of her 25 album, "Send My Love" is a great track with an easy to listen to beat. The guitar percussion makes for an interesting listening experience, along with a catchy melody line. Of course, we all know how relatable Adele's lyrics are. This is a fun addition to a road trip, or for everyday summer fun.
9. Try Everything- Shakira
"Try Everything" is the theme song from Walt Disney Studio's latest flick, "Zootopia." While it comes from a kid's movie, this song has an uplifting and fun beat perfect for any age. Shakira's character, Gazelle, is the beacon of peace and love in the film, and sings her pop hit with two glittering tigers!
8. Sweet Child O' Mine- Guns N' Roses
I didn't say these songs were all current! "Sweet Child O' Mine" is the ultimate rock n' roll track. Everyone knows the iconic guitar solo at the song's opening. You can't help but sing along with Axl Rose as the song progresses. "Sweet Child" is a window-down road trip must!
7.Electric Indigo- The Paper Kites
The Paper Kites are an Indie centered group, but this track has almost an electronic groove. The electro beat will have you turning the volume up as soon as the track begins. Its a little gem all on its own!
6. Your Love- The Outfeild
Once again, I'm going back to the eighties for this fantastic song. "Your Love" combines a classic rock guitar progression with a pop lyric, asking if tonight is enough for a relationship. This song appeals to all age groups, and has not dated itself in any way, shape or form! This is an awesome car jam (tried and tested!)
5. First- Cold War Kids
"First" offers a modern rock track to your summer playlist. This is a song that you will bast on repeat! It is a little different from the rest of my "feel good" list, but it is an epic song regardless. Heavy drumming in the chorus elevates this song to a jam, rather than background music.
4. Hymn for the Weekend (Seeb Remix)- Coldplay
The title says it all! Coldplay doesn't disappoint with this feel-good track. The Seeb remix adds more of a dance-feel to the original track, but it doesn't take away from the message of going out for a good time. This is a multi-functional song that would be great for a party, pool day, or a long car ride. It makes you want to jump up and have an adventure on your forty-eight hour vacation!
3. This Summer- Maroon 5
Off of Maroon 5's "V", "This Summer" is an ode to all of the bad decisions that can (and will) be made from June to August. Whether you go for the clean or explicit version of this track, the infectious beat and very repeatable chorus will be stuck in your head for the rest of your summer.
2. Geronimo- Sheppard
This is the perfect song to shout the lyrics out the window to! Sheppard provides us the perfect track with a memorable beat and catchy lyrics. Blast this song on the way to a barbecue or the beach, and you'll have a great day!
1. CAN'T STOP THE FEELING- Justin Timberlake
JT offers the ultimate summer track in the form of "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING"! It is easy to sing along to, has a classic pop beat, and offers a myriad of feel-good messages in the lyrics. There is no place that this song can't be played!
This is just a taste of awesome summertime tunes! Keep on jamming and enjoy your summer!
