Like many people I am weeb trash, and because of this fact watching anime can be a really dangerous game, because I tend to get invested really quickly. So trying to get into things like Naruto or Bleach, is just an endless emotional roller-coaster that I quite simply don’t have time for. Therefore I dabble in short animes that, more often than not, leave my heart in shatters because I want more.
10. Tonari no Seki-kun: The Master of Killing Time.
When the procrastination is hitting really hard, which happens quite often, this is one of my go-to animes. Without giving too much away, it is quite literally what it sounds like. It’s short, sweet, and to the point. I definitely recommend this if you only have time to watch one or two episodes in one sitting.
9. Say “I love you”
This is another anime, that is just plain cute. A girl who is having a hard time in school making friends, falls for the most popular boy in school and the ship begins to set sail. I love this anime, its just cute and short and just plain lovely.
8. Attack on Titan.
This is probably one of the more popular animes I’m going to have on this list. Attack on Titan is a violent anime about killing giant naked monsters. The manga is light years ahead of the show, but I recommend at least checking it out.
P.S. The Sub is eons better than the dub…
7. Hetalia: Axis Powers.
Another relatively popular anime, which depicts the different countries of the world as the most adorable people ever! It’s a bit longer at 50 some-odd episodes, but they are only about 5 minutes each so I still count this as a short anime.
(The Dub and Subs of this are both beautiful in many different ways. I recommend both.)
6. Usagi Drop.
Grandson goes to grandfathers funeral and finds out his grandfather’s young lover had a daughter. This anime is about a 30-year-old single man (the grandson) stepping up and raising this girl as if she were his own. The character development that happens here is so amazingly beautiful and adorable I cried…a lot.
5. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni/Kai/Rei.
If violence, merciless killing, gore, and complex multi-verse stories aren’t your thing, then keep reading. This anime is the nastiest thing I have ever seen, but that’s part of what makes it so good. The multiple different storied woven together makes it really complicated and new. I seriously recommend giving it a go, if you’re looking for something new and exciting.
4. Another.
Another is a gory horror mystery anime. It is one that if you haven’t seen it, you really shouldn’t skip it. Another was amazing and so different that I think everyone should at least try it.
3. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.
Talk about feels central. When I say I cried watching this, I mean I bawled my eyes out. I finished it in one night and then the day after I forced my friends to share the pain with me and I made them sit through the whole thing. There is an amazing twist at the end that will force you to sit in the corner and just bawl. Do not wear eye-liner and watch this, that is a very dangerous game.
2. Wolf’s Rain.
This anime is very near and dear to my heart. It is a touching anime about the damage that people are doing to the planet and how, because of that, all the wolves have died off and don’t get to go to paradise, which is supposed to be the best place ever. So the wolves disguise themselves as humans to try to return to paradise. I love this anime and it’s super underrated. 10/10 best find ever.
1. Free! Iwatobi Swim Club.
Anyone who knows me knows that this is currently my favorite thing on earth right now. This is an anime about swimming, mixed with years worth of sexual tension and a sprinkling of random hilarity. I cant sing its praises enough and I cried when it was over, because it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
All of these are 10/10 quality animes that I love dearly, and would recommend to anyone.
