Top 10 Oscar Moments From This Year's Awards

From the red carpet to the celebrity camera close-ups, the 89th Academy Awards is a night full of Hollywood glamour. Sunday night was no different. But like every Oscars, there are a few amazing moments that stand out. Whether you watched the full six hours of coverage or decided to turn on basketball instead, here are some of the top moments from the 89th Academy Awards in 2017:

1. The Matt HATRED

We know Jimmy hates Matt. From the trash talk to kicking him off stage in a musical fashion, the hatred for Matt Damon never ends.

2. The “Lion” King

Of course, people were quick to make fun of the moment when host Jimmy Kimmel interviewed “Lion” star Sunny Pawar and proceeded to hold him up like the scene in “The Lion King.”

3. Politically Charged

Now when is an award show never full of political jokes about the leader of the free world...

4. Gary from Chicago

Kimmel’s prank was to invite tourists on a Star Lines Hollywood tour into the auditorium. Social media quickly hit up “Gary from Chicago” and his fiancée’s facial expressions.

5. Trash Talk about the Meryl Streep

It’s Meryl. She’s great. We get it. And of course we still love her.

6. Marhershala Ali’s Triumph

Mahershala Ali won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in “Moonlight,” which sparked A24 to tweet out a screenshot from the movie in which Ali originally cradles young Chiron in the movie. However, in the meme, he is cradling his newly-won Oscar.

7. “Gluten Falling from the Sky”

There was candy AND cookies. I guess they figured out that people get hungry after sitting there for several hours.

8. Jimmy Kimmel

Quite the comedian. He should host his own TV show.

9. How Many Did You Get This Time?

At one point in the show, “Suicide Squad” had more Oscars than “La La Land.” But, that didn’t last long.

10. BEST PICTURE. Spoiler…

It’s MOONLIGHT.
