With spring break coming to an end, there were a variety of destinations University of Tennessee students traveled to for SBK15. As a senior, I've come to realize that with every year, comes a new popular destination. Here are the spring breaks from freshman year to senior year.
Freshman year: Panama City
As a freshman, there is one place that almost all freshman travel to for their first spring break of college and it is Panama City, Fla. The popular place to stay is the Sandpiper, where it's your mission to fit as many of your sorority sisters or fraternity brothers into one room to avoid paying extra for another room. At least one piece of furniture will break by the end of the week, you pay as little as possible for food, saving as much as you can for your drink of choice throughout the week. You wake up early to get a spot on the beach and don't go in until the sun starts setting or you are too burnt to take any more sun. Dinner is something cheap and afterwards you travel from room to room with all of your friends or try to find a bar to get into as an 18 year old. It is the typical college party, and anyone who is anyone usually plans their first spring break as a college student to Panama City.
Sophomore year: Destin
Sophomore year, you still want the beach experience, but you want to travel somewhere away from all of the freshman. You are also set on renting a house for the week with enough beds or pull out couches for everyone, unlike freshman year. You go to the grocery store and buy actual food, but still save money for your drink of choice all week, usually buying it before you leave. You are willing to pay more for somewhere to stay and it isn't all about the partying, although that is still something you want to do. You still go to the beach early to get as much sun as possible, and wait until the last second to go back to the house as the sun is setting. Dinner is spent at a popular restaurant, such as the Red Bar, and afterwards Baytowne Wharf is the place to spend the rest of the night.
Junior year: cruise or Destin
Junior year, it's more about enjoying your spring break with your friends. With only one more spring break after this one, you are determined to make it one to remember. Whether you are going on a cruise out of the country, or go back to Destin, it will be one of the best spring breaks compared to the two years before. You have the hang of college, at this point, and have learned a thing or two from the previous spring breaks about the dos and don'ts. The friend group you travel with has probably shrunk, but it's okay because you are with your best friends and you always have fun with them. You still go to all of the popular restaurants in Destin and if you go on a cruise, you stuff your face with food. At night in Destin you still go to Baytowne Wharf, but it's even more fun because you have learned what time is the best time to get into the bars and not get kicked out. On a cruise, you go to dinner, then head upstairs to Karaoke afterwards you hit the club level for a fun night dancing the night away. Either way, you will probably have the best spring break of your college career so far and you will bond even more with the friends you went with.
Senior year: all inclusive resort out of the country
Senior year you want to go out with a bang. Most of the UT seniors book their last spring break out of the country at an all-inclusive resort. This year, it was in the Dominican Republic and it was filled with University of Tennessee students. This is your lsat spring break of college and there is nothing that will get in the way of having as much fun as possible and spending it with all of your best friends. You are now probably 21, which makes it even better and you have also probably saved up a good amount of money, by now, which you will spend every cent of while you are out of the country. You might be completely broke afterwards, but it all went to the best spring break of your college career. You bond even more with some of your best friends and also meet some new people you are sad you didn't know before. You wake up early to go lay out on the beach, buy lots of fun, fruity drinks, go in right before the sun sets, and get dressed up and have the time of your life out with your best friends. Leaving is dreaded, but you end your college spring break with a bang and it will be a spring break you will never forget.
