As the country gets an early snowfall, many winter sports are emerging from the summer hibernation to get some well deserved powder time. As an avid skier and traveler I have had the chance to visit many amazing ski resorts from all around the world. So cheers to high priced ski passes, uncomfortable rental boots, mediocre cafeteria food and the best winter of your life!

1. Snow Basin

Ogden, UT

This hidden gem ski resort is nestled in the Ogden mountains of the picturesque Utah. With its many advanced routes and lifts skiers of all levels are transported to a winter wonderland and have the chance to ski on one of the best mountains in the country

2. Sun Valley

Sun Valley, ID

Every Christmas my family and I travel north to the snowy valley which is Sun Valley. Many celebrities such as Demi Moore, Bruce Willis and even Oprah has planted their winter roots in this small town in the middle of the Idaho Valley. The Resort features two mountains, Bald and Dollar. Both mountains have two different levels of skiing perfect for families and advanced skiers.

3. Brianhead

Brianhead, UT

Just two hours from Las Vegas, this unique and high class resort features ski lessons from award winning coaches, Solomon ski rentals and a shuttle to and from both mountains featured. They even have a winter play park that features sledding, snow sports and snow tubing! For a great winter weekend getaway head over to Brianhead for a truly remarkable time.

4. Vail Mountain Resort

Vail, CO

When you visit Vail, you are truly transported to what seems like a quaint Swiss village. With many ethnic restaurants that line along the main cobblestone street you can experience a true Europe town. If you are an avid skier or snowboarder, Vail should definitely be on your bucket list!

5. Whistler Blackcomb

Whistler BC, Canada

As the one of the hosts for the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler is a great destination to get the European ski resort feel without having to fly 18 hours. Whistler features 2 mountains, a ski village and many resort accommodations designed to fit the needs for any group. While you are in Canada make sure to pick up some delicious Tim Hortons coffee and magnificent maple syrup!

6. Jungfraujoch

Interlaken, Switzerland

Ok lets be real here. You cannot go wrong with pure Swiss skiing. Jungfraujoch is the "Top of Europe", therefore you can expect the breathtaking views, snowy high peaks and delicious Swiss fondue. I had the pleasure of visiting this mountain and hiking its memorable peaks. If you ever have the chance to visit Switzerland during the winter make sure to bring you gear. You will never regret it!

Have a safe and special season!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
