With the semester coming to an end you might find yourself with a little more time on your hands and this list can help you learn while you relax and unwind from this semester.
1. House of Cards
House of Cards is a Netflix original series that follows Frank Underwood, House majority whip, from Gaffney, SC in is career in Congress. This intense drama shows how Frank and his wife, Claire, step on others to get to the top. This series creates a great insight to the life of a successful congressman while giving us all the things we love about politics and TV: scandal, money, and power.
2. Scandal
Scandal is an ABC series that lets us into the life of Olivia Pope. Olivia is a professional "fixer" and manages crises for everyone with money and power, including the President of the United States. But, through her work, Olivia finds herself in many scandals of her own. This show will have you saying "Oh no she didn't!".
3. Parks and Recreation
Parks and Rec gives you an insight to what it's like to work in local politics. This comedy show with it's "Office-like" style follows Leslie Knope and her life as Director of the Parks Department in Pawnee, Indiana. This series if funny and features hilarious actors like Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari and Chris Pratt.
4. The West Wing
If you ever wonder who does all the dirty work in D.C this shows let's you in on that secret. It follows the lives and careers of staffers for both the White House and the president. This show is a little older, but it's a classic that can still relate to the events of today.
5. Political Animals
What do you do when you become the President's ex-wife? Well, Elaine Barrish becomes Secretary of State. This series follows Elaine as she takes on the major worldwide crises while also holding her family together. This show puts the light on the women of Washington.
