Makeup has always been a huge passion of mine, whether it be everyday makeup, heavy "drag queen" makeup, or special effects. Every time a brand comes out with a new product, I have to try it. Below is a compiled list of years and years of trying new makeup and coming to a favorite. Most of the brands mentioned are considered "prestigious brands" that can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta Beauty, but a couple drug store brands have also made my list.
1. Moisturizer - LUSH Vanishing Cream ($45)
This lotion is super lightweight and adheres to its name because once applied, it completely soaks into the skin and doesn't leave an oily feel.
The majority of the ingredients used in this product are all natural and includes properties to help the skin in other ways than just moisturizing such as: Witch Hazel (fights blemishes) and Honey (prevents wrinkles and evens skin tone)
LUSH vanishing cream can be purchased at a LUSH store or at LUSHusa
2. Concealer - Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal ($8)
Face Studio is Maybelline's version of a prestigious makeup line, and there are definite improvements over their regular line.
Master Conceal is a thick concealer that hides all blemishes and under-eye dark circles without having to apply multiple layers. This product also works well under or over foundation, so you don't have to change up your beauty routine.
Master Conceal also comes in a wide range of shades, so there is a color for everybody's skin tone.
Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal can be purchased at any drug or grocery store that sells Maybelline makeup
3. Foundation - Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics OCC Skin: Conceal ($23)
This brand and product is also my favorite highlighter and contour. I just use a couple shades lighter than my foundation color for the highlighter and the color Jane Doe for my contour color.
OCC is a 100 percent vegan brand, which means that all of their products are made from natural ingredients, exclude animal ingredients, and are not tested on animals.
OCC Skin Conceal is a cream foundation that applies and blends easily into the skin and is also made with aloe, so it's perfect for all over the face/neck and those with sensitive skin. And it lasts a long time—bonus!
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics was recently taken out of Sephora, but it can still be purchased through OCC's website.
4. Eyeliner - e.l.f. Essential Expert Liquid Liner ($2)
I have been wearing cat-tailed eyeliner for years, and this is the best eyeliner I have found to get the job done. It's so cheap!
e.l.f. liquid liner's pigment is so dark and applies in one stoke. The brush is also a felt tip for thin or thick application and keeps its fine point throughout the life of the product.
e.l.f. Essential Expert Liquid Liner can be purchased at any drug or grocery store where the brand is sold.
5. Blush - Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush ($28)
This blush holds true to its name in the fact that it is made from Amazonian clay and lasts a very long time. The reason I love this blush is that the pigment is soft, so color intensity can be played up or down depending on the desired look.
The only downside to Tarte's blush is that although the brand is cruelty free, it is not vegan or natural. Talc is one of the main ingredients, which is known to cause long-term health problems.
If this is a surprise to you, read through your makeup ingredients because talc is also the most popular makeup ingredient for almost all well-known brands.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush can be purchased at Sephora or Ulta.
Give these products a try and turn them into your favorites.
