When it comes to makeup, many people want to stop supporting animal testing but are afraid that they won't be able to find enough variety. There are actually more cruelty-free brands than you may think, and there's a good chance you may already use some of them!
Drugstore Brands
When considering going cruelty-free, many people are hesitant because they think that they will have to spend more money for cruelty-free makeup. In actuality, there are a variety of affordable options, some of which can be found at your local drugstore! Here are a few lower-priced brands who are certified cruelty-free:
1. NYX: My personal favorite drugstore brand also happens to be 100% cruelty-free! NYX produces some of the highest quality drugstore products, in my personal opinion, and they offer many "dupes" for higher-end products!
2. Physician's Formula: Many people (including YouTube beauty gurus!) swear by this brand. They are a bit on the expensive side for the drugstore, but the quality of their products is great.
3. E.L.F: The least expensive drugstore brand is also cruelty-free! E.L.F. offers a wide variety of products, from eyeshadow to brushes and everything in between, and most of their products are $1-$5. (I didn't know they had a wider selection of products online, so check out their website too!)
4. Wet N' Wild: The quality of Wet N' Wild's products is hit or miss, however, their prices can't be beat and their lipsticks are high quality for a low price.
5. Colourpop: Although you can't find Colourpop at your local drugstore, I couldn't leave this brand out because they are a big favorite of mine. Their products are all cruelty-free and made in the U.S.A., and super affordable. All lipsticks, lip pencils, and eyeshadows are $5, cheek products are $8, and everything else in between are similarly priced. ($5 off with the coupon code "thanksbabe"! I'm not sponsored, just thought I would share).
"Sephora" Brands
I call this category "Sephora" Brands because while not all of them are necessarily sold in Sephora, they are all about that price range and not a super high end brand like Dior.
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Yes, your brows can be "on fleek" without harming animals along the way! ABH sells mainly their cult-favorite brow products in Sephora, but they also sell eyeshadow and lipstick online and in Macy's.
2. LUSH: LUSH is best known for their beautiful bath bombs, but they also produce a variety of lotions, masks, shampoos, and even makeup. LUSH is a great brand for sensitive skin, and they are very open about being cruelty-free.
3. Urban Decay: Don't worry, you can still use your Naked palettes when going cruelty-free! Urban Decay is best known for their high-quality eyeshadows, and although they can be a bit pricey, they are a great cruelty-free brand.
4. Kat Von D: The popular tattoo artist's line of makeup at Sephora has been quickly growing in popularity, and the brand was recently certified as cruelty-free! Kat Von D offers a variety of eye, lip, and face products, all of which are fan favorites.
5. Tarte: This brand is known for their highly pigmented products, due to their signature "Amazonian clay" formulation. Tarte is another fan-favorite brand, and being cruelty-free makes them even better.
These are only some of the many cosmetics brands that are cruelty-free. To find out if your favorite brand is certified, check out their website, or this list.
