Top 5 Ice Cream Spots In Central Mass

My love for ice cream started at a very young age, and two summers ago, my dad and I investigated the best places to get your cool fix in Central Massachusetts.

1.Uhlman’s

Located right near Route 9, Uhlman’s is a crowd pleaser for all of Central Massachusetts. Their season begins in early March, and I, personally, will trek out in flip flops in New England’s 30-degree “spring” weather. It's a popular spot for Shrewsbury, Westborough and Algonquin high schoolers and even those of us returning from college.

Location: 228 E. Main St., Westborough, Massachusetts

Size: Larger than you would think. I recommend a kiddie.

Favorite Flavor: Chocolate Raspberry Truffle

2. Meola’s Wayside Ice Cream

Right on the outskirts of Worcester (Central Mass hub), lies this eclectic and welcoming ice cream spot. The business used to produce farm fresh milk, and recently turned the old factory building into open garage concept, decorated in fun and bright themes. Benches to enjoy your cool treat, old pianos and colorful walls are all part of the experience at this gem.

Location:165 W Boylston St., West Boylston, Massachusetts (additional location in Sterling, Massachusetts)

Size: True to size. I recommend a small.

Favorite Flavor: Maine Black Bear

3. West End Creamery

West End is very well kept up with and is extremely clean and family oriented. Ice cream windows and an inside spot to sit and enjoy your ice cream, the creamery also provides incredible views of their land, an open walk through barn as well as mini golf and inflatable bubbles for jumping (highly recommended) allowing for a full day of fun!

Location: 481 Purgatory Rd., Whitinsville, Massachusetts

Size: Slightly larger than expected. I recommend a small.

Favorite Flavor: Graham Central Station

4. Swirls & Scoops

Honestly, I just love the name of this ice cream shop. Something I noticed immediately is the doggy-inspired edible treats to share with your furry friend! Swirls & Scoops gains a lot of attraction from younger children and is a family-friendly spot to cool on off.

Location: 68 Worcester St., North Grafton, Massachusetts

Size: True to size.

Favorite Flavor: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

5. Trombetta’s Farm

Family owned and operated, Trombetta’s doubles as a small plant shop with an attached “Beezer’s” hotdog shop. Very well kept, Trombetta’s offers a nice summery feel and is perfect for date night, family fun and any other occasion. Yum!

Location: 277 Main St., Northborough, Massachusetts (original location in Marlborough, Massachusetts)

Size: True to size.

Favorite Flavor: Black Raspberry Chip

Bonus: Pinecroft Dairy

Another great place right outside of Worcester, providing more than just ice cream! Pine croft is very family-friendly and gives creative flavors for every taste bud.

Location: 539 Prospect St., West Boylston, Massachusetts

Size: True to size.

Favorite Flavor: Pomegranate Chip

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
