Most of us are very familiar with the social media apps in the App Store, like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, but have you ever thought about all of the other available apps out there? This list will help you navigate the vast world of applications that are out there for our every need, even those we did not know we had the desire to fulfill.
1. Anti Mosquito – Sonic Repeller
This app is a must for summer time. With all the outside activities we get involved in, we are sure to encounter these pesky bugs trying to suck the fun out of our day. At first, I thought this was too good to be true. Our phones don’t have the capability of producing bug spray, but, judging from the swarm of positive reviews, this app really works! It emits a “unique high frequency sound” that causes bugs to stay away, and humans don’t notice it. From cookouts to long walks through the neighborhood, as long as you have your phone with you, this app will allow you to spend some mosquito-free time with family and friends. Most importantly, it’s available on the App Store for free!
2. Humin – Phone and Contacts App
Your new favorite app to help with short-term memory loss is finally here! Humin “remembers all your relationships, just like you do.” For the person you met at the restaurant who shares a mutual friend with you, or the guy from last night you met when your memory was less than satisfactory, the app can keep a memory instead of just a name in your phone, simplifying things for us! Humin will save us from those awkward moments of trying to remember someone’s name, because now the story of how you met will be at your fingertips. 3. LearnVest
Let’s face it, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to keep up with your money when you’re an on-the-go college student. LearnVest helps you manage your finances with budgeting tools and even gives advice to help you plan for the long term. This app can securely link with your bank accounts, keep tabs of cash transactions, and the premium version offers many more features to further the interest of your financial affairs. What more could we ask for in an app?
4. Allrecipes Dinner Spinner
Another thing we are notorious for as college students is our inability to cook. With the help of Allrecipes Dinner Spinner, we can prove the skeptics wrong! This app gives access to “a community of more than 30 million” recipes. Allrecipes is the ultimate kitchen aid because it provides you with videos of step-by-step instructions, sharing features to interact with recipes that others post, and can even add all of the ingredients from a recipe to a shopping list so they’re in one place! The only thing missing from this convenient app is a taste test, but you can check out pictures of the recipes available and check out more details here.
5. Dubsmash
Dubsmash is a great app to turn to on a rainy day, or if you and your friends are in the mood for a great laugh. With hundreds of sounds from different categories of popular culture, Dubsmash allows you to make videos of yourself with the background noise of someone else. Whether it is acting out a movie scene or giving others a hint of what you actually look like during karaoke, Dubsmash offers the perfect opportunity to simultaneously show off your creativity, timing, and memory capacity of your favorite quotes, songs and scenes. Enjoy this free app and share for all your friends to see!
Whether you download one or try them all out, these apps will soon be in your daily rotation.
