Top 8 "Struggles" After Going To A Cru Winter Conference

During the winter break of 2015, I had the privilege to attend one of the regional Cru winter conferences while visiting friends in Minneapolis, MN.

As most of you may know, currently there is no Cru chapter in West Liberty University. There is no way for me, an international student, to even hear about Cru.

I still remember the first day when I checked in at the hotel for the four-day conference, I couldn't even find a register section that I would belong to, because all the other students are from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa and other nearby states and were organized by school chapters.

I was so glad to be roomed with three students from Wisconsin, which later on became my Wisconsin bond.

Well, before signing up for the winter conference, they have told me how great it was going to be, but they never told me the struggles...

1. You can't be roommates with the conference buddies forever.

When it comes to the end, goodbyes are hard....

2. Conference buddies are awesome, but after returning from conference, still have to deal with school works, not-so-awesome roommates and all the other daily bugs.

3. Cru winter conference is like no other.

The staff was so nice to reach out to you for summer missions and other opportunities to reach people through Christ, and it's really hard to say "no" to these invitations.

4. We didn't get to see each other very often.

Once the conference was over, I seriously missed the conference buddies...

5. We eat together, sleep in the same room, rush the ballroom.

After a while, strangers became friends, and goodbyes are even bitter.

6. After being encouraged by so many speakers, it's hard for me to just keep the regular path.

I want be one of those missionaries someday.

7. Conference memories are infinite.

You went once, and you start to look forward to next year. The wait is awful...

8. It became my new addiction.

I wish to know more about the ministry! However, this walk is not so easy as registering for a conference.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
