—all stories mentioned have happened in small towns in California according to witness testimonies except when noted otherwise, names of witnesses and towns have been withheld to protect their privacy.

1. “It was the year 2000 in a small town in California, it was Halloween night and most children were already back home from trick-or-treating. I would say it was the next day even though we were celebrating as if it was Halloween it was already midnight, if you want to be technical. We heard a knock on the door so we went to open it wondering who would show up this late. It was a young boy I would say was no older than five, he was dressed as a vampire he looked like a normal kid to me, you know? Nothing weird or anything but there weren’t any adults with him, so that worried us, we didn’t have any candy left to give out at midnight so when he said “trick-or –treat” I said I’d be right back and I gave him some of the candy my sister had collected. Then I called my mom and told her about it, she was worried because only about a minute had passed but we didn’t see the boy anymore, and there were still no adults in site. The neighbor came up to us and asked us what we were looking for, after we told her she said “You know a young boy was tragically ran over in this street a while back? On Halloween night, about ten years ago, a lot of people see him every year on the same day he passed away” we didn’t know whether to believer her or not, we don’t live there anymore but either way I hope that isn’t true."

2. “When I was younger I used to go to Mexico all the time with my family, I loved it but at night it sometimes got a little creepy, the walls of my grandma’s house were so thin you could hear everything that happened outside. One night it was really hard for me to sleep, I kept hearing horses outside and by that I mean like horse hooves constantly hitting the ground, you know in Mexican culture its common for people to teach the horses to dance that’s what it sounded like. I asked my grandma if we could go outside to ask them if they would quiet down, so we turned into the corner where the sounds were coming from but they suddenly stopped, there were no horses nor men anywhere. She then told me they believed they were ghost of men who died in battle while riding their horses. I wouldn’t be able to tell you if she actually believed that, but I know what I heard and it was horses, when I went back into the room I heard them again but just closed my eyes and slept, tried to ignore them even though they continued all night.”

3. “We used to live in this big two story house, I really liked it, but sometimes things happened there that really freaked me out. Once I was home alone, I was upstairs and heard the chandeliers swinging, and footsteps as if someone was running around the house, I called out to see if anybody was home but there was no reply. An hour or so later the rest of my family showed up, so I know nobody was in there at the time, if someone was there I couldn’t see them. In another occasion my brother was in his room and came running towards me telling me he had seen a beam of light shoot across the wall, we went inspect it and there was nothing on the wall everything looked normal. Other creepy thing, which I would say is the strangest is the attic in the house, my little sister who was about three at the time liked to play in the bedroom that had the attic, she would always talk to an imaginary friend. She would sit there and have a chair for him right next to her. One day she looked really sad and she told us he was gone, when we asked who she was talking about she said, her friend had burned and was gone. After that day we never heard her talking to him again”

4. "I thought these moments were both nice and terrifying, but mostly terrifying because as an adult, you aren’t sure how to react but kids, they aren’t as scared some people say little kids can see things we don’t. When my mom passed away my son was only one year old and I thought he would never remember her, but when he was two and a half and he could speak, he would smile and look towards the couch my mom used to always sit on, he said “hi grandma” and I looked and him confused and asked where his grandma was he said “right there” and pointed to the same couch she used to sit on I am not sure if they were faint memories he had or if he actually saw something that day. After that he often pointed outs things that belonged to her as if he remembered her, it is a bit frightening and I am not sure why it happened but I’m glad he remembers her.”

5. “When I went to Mexico this past summer, a lot of my family traveled with us so I quickly claimed the bedroom that had the prettiest view, it was a corner room that was right next to an empty lot full of blooming trees, but as I was making my way to that room my father warned me that paranormal things would often occur in that room. People who would sleep there often got the sensation that someone was there with them, pulling their blankets and impeding them from moving. When I asked why they thought such things happen they said they believe its because in that empty lot across from it, there had been several executions, they don’t know why or when but that is what the town rumored. During that stay some things would randomly disappear, clothing items and household products, at first we thought it was someone pulling pranks but how would someone walk into the bathroom where I was about to shower and take my shoes when the door was locked? I think a spirit was there but we don’t know why it seemed to have an interest in that house.”

6. “It was Halloween night and I had I was at my friend’s house we were watching horror movies in the living room couch. I then saw a little girl standing by the kitchen, she was wearing a white dress and was short she looked really sad but at the same time her facial expression looked sort of blank, you know your typical ghost girl? That’s what freaked me out the most, that nobody would believe me because she looked just like those ghosts in movies. I asked my friend “Did you see that?” he didn’t know what I was talking about and said maybe it was his little sister but his sister was gone that day so it couldn’t have been her. That was the craziest thing I have experienced I mean I looked at her right in the eyes and still nobody believed me but I’m telling others so they know if they see something maybe it isn’t just their imagination, I know what I saw”

7. “There was a bar in a small town where there is like only one street literally the town is so small the bar is probably the biggest thing there. Well that bar and dance inn that was shut down, I heard a scary story about that. Everyone would go and enjoy, have a few drinks and dance. Well there was a handsome guy who pulled up in an exotic car we all wondered where he came from because he was dressed in designer, didn’t look like he belonged here. He asked one of the prettiest girls there to dance with him and of course she said yes, they were having fun and it was late, they started having a conversation and he told her “Now whatever you do, don’t look down its for your own good” she was confused but didn’t ask anything, after a while though curiosity took over she looked down and saw was she described as “the devil’s feet” they were goat hooves where human feet should be, as described in many legends. We know that day taught them a lesson, “never dance with a stranger because you might be dancing with the devil”.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
