Being home for the summer is leaving one life and entering another part. The person you are at home is often not exactly the same person you are at school and visa versa. However, no matter who you are there are many things college students look forward to the most about coming home for the summer.

1. Home cooked meals.

Dining hall food can be good, sometimes. Cooking food in your own place can be good more often than not. But there is nothing like coming home and having someone else make your favorite meal and doing the dishes for you. No plates to clear, no dishwasher to load, leftovers are around all t he time. Something just tastes better about eating food cooked and cleaned by someone else. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you'll do the adult thing and help clean, but really it's still better.

2. Pets, pets, pets.

If you have a dog or a cat or a gerbil, coming home to that beloved animal can be the most joyful and exciting time of your life. Never mind the loving parents and curious siblings waiting behind that door. The pet you have missed with all your heart will finally be back in your arms for a blissful three and a half months. What could be better?

3. My BFF Jill

Nearly every person knows that when you go home you finally get to see all those people that go to different colleges like a million miles away that you only see like twice a year that you've just missed so dang much! Reuniting with old best friends is good medicine for the heart. Not only do you finally get to catch up on each others' lives and the good gossip new around town. You finally feel right back at home. Having your best friends around again makes it easier to adjust to being back at home.

4. NO HOMEWORK!!!

As much as us college students value the great education that we are receiving at our prestigious universities, there is nothing like the feelings of waking up and remembering that you don't have class, or homework, or a paper, or a test, or anything even remotely school related because this isn't high school and teachers don't assign summer reading anymore. It's basically a little taste of Heaven on earth.

5. Sleeeeeeeeeep.

Every college student knows that your roommates will deprive you of sleep. Your classes will deprive you of sleep. Your stress will deprive you of sleep. Your coffee addiction will deprive you of sleep. Friends, parties, sports, pizza runs, whatever the case, you will not get a fulfilling eight hours of sleep every night like you always hoped and prayed you would. In fact, you're probably lucky if you got six. The point is, now you're home. You're in your bed in your house with nothing to worry about. Sleeping is now a favorite pastime. Nothing is better than your house and your bed just sleeping.

College is a mess of ups and downs and what the **** do I want to be when I grow up? Going home for the summer makes college a little bit better. It makes us miss our freedom from parents and the town we left behind at school. We learn to value or friendships more as well as spend a little more time in peace. College is fantastic, and a summer at home can be too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
