5 Reasons You Need To Make A Summer Bucket List Right Now

Between trying to figure out when to take a group trip to the shore, a weekend in the woods with a bonfire, and going to a water park, there are an incredible amount of activities that should and must be accomplished in one summer. For this reason, a summer bucket list is quite necessary. Basically, you write down everything you want to accomplish during the summer: Places to go, things to do, sports to play, concerts to attend, etc. Writing out a summer bucket list can be super helpful, so creating one before the summer can be beneficial to helping you have an amazing summer! Here are the top reasons to create your summer bucket list now.

1. Never forget anything you wanted to do.

No matter how easy, silly or even how ridiculous your to-do list may be, you can be sure to have a wide variety of options for each summer day. Whether you want to play Wiffle ball for a whole day or go white-water rafting, all desired possibilities are put onto the bucket list and as the summer progresses, you can decide if you actually want to or can complete them.

2. Different activities with each friend group

Having different categories for each group of friends can help specify fun activities more tailored to each groups preferences: Either the high school friends that live for the beach days and rough ocean waters or the college roommates that would rather go hiking for the day then have a nighttime bonfire. Always remember to include days for elementary school friends consisting of picnics and ice cream in local areas as a throwback!

3. Helpful for planning out the summer

Between the family vacation to Florida in mid-July, then the week at your best friend's lake house in the beginning of August, plus trying to book a camping trip for the weekend in between can be stressful and overwhelming. Having all summer possibilities laid out and written down before summer even technically begins can help to decrease the stress that comes with planning all of the summer events. Keep summer fun and stress-free by creating a bucket list and planning ahead.

4. Always find something (anything) to do

A key bonus of a bucket list has got to be having activities for each and every day of summer, no matter your mood or the weather. Is it pouring out? Sounds like the perfect day to accomplish "Watch all eight 'Harry Potter' movies in order." Hot and sticky out with a pool that's too warm to even swim in? That's the ideal day for your lemonade stand and water balloon fight. No matter what Mother Nature throws at you over the summer, your bucket list will prepare you for anything and everything, while still being super fun.

5. Have a fun, eventful summer.

Whether it has 12 or 176 bullet points on it, getting to experience each one during the summer with your friends and family will be sure to make your summer totally entertaining and lively. Even if you don't get to cross off every thing off your list at the end, you got together and talked about your bucket list with friends (which was probably ridiculously fun and full of laughter) and you can think of it as a head start on your list for next year!

I encourage and even dare everyone to write down their summer desires, from the super simple like playing monopoly all night, to the daredevil adventures like cliff jumping. Let the countdown to summer begin!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
