So I'll admit it, I'm bit of a Snapchat junkie! Over 80 people follow me and watch my snaps (that's a lot to me!) I post something almost every day, and I love sharing moments with people. Snapchat is a social media app that's been evolving ever since its release back in 2011. It became a popular way of keeping in contact with friends by sending quick snaps of your daily activities by using your phone's contact list or by swapping usernames. I guess you can say Snapchat can make you a bit narcissistic but it's kind of meant to. Besides snapping about yourself, you can snap important events going on at school, show off a cool location, spread awareness, and so forth. It's a good tool to use that's more intimate and personal. It's like having a backstage pass into someones life without needing to pay the extra fees. You get to see rare footage of friends, and it's a good way of keeping up with peoples lives without always texting them.
Cool features.
Snapchat has totally changed from what it used to be; you're able to do so much more now. It has gained some pretty cool features that people should look at and use. For example, you can chat live with users when you open up a message and hold down the blue flashing button. You can add emojis to your stories, geo tags (that you can create!), and filters! Snap has also recently added stickers that you can send in a note. Along with different media platforms attached so that you can receive news and entertainment for example Buzz-feed, Cosmopolitan, and the Food Network bringing you new information and news everyday.
Good way to verify people off of dating apps.
In this day and age you shouldn't be getting catfished! Especially if you have access to SnapChat let alone the internet. You could just ask whoever you're talking to to Snapchat you a picture, or other dirty parts, but please make sure it's cool.
Doesn't last forever (kind of).
One reason I'm really into Snapchat is because I get to express myself and not worry about it being "on my wall" forever. Your story only lasts for 24 hours; after that it disappears -- likewise, when you send a picture or video to a friend it disappears faster than your meal points. But, beware; just like any thing on the internet it can be saved or worse -- screenshot. Snap does let you know if someone screenshots a picture, but you should still be weary of what you put up and out in the open.
You get to have your own video blog.
You might not think of it like this but it is! You get to post whatever you like and be in control of what people see through your eyes (in this case lens!) and document your day to day life. You can also promote and use it as a way to advertise a business or company.
Most people have one.
Even people who don't use other forms of social media have a Snapchat. I can say this because it's that way for a lot of my friends. Why? Because it's more personal and you can add or delete whoever you want without feeling too committed. Also because it's very popular among millennials due to the constant change in technology, even a lot of celebrities are starting to use it so that you can keep up with their lives.
