Ulta, Sephora, MAC, Smashbox, Urban Decay. These are some of the top and largest marketed makeup products in today's society, but the prices do not look near as good as the product. I am a makeup obsessed female college student myself, so I understand a girl's yearning for these top-of-the-line brands and their products.Unfortunately, as college students, we all have rather significantly large bills to pay every semester, so we cannot be spending double and triple digits on our makeup. One of my personal expenditures on makeup that I have a hard time controlling is mascara. I, along with the majority of the rest of us makeup-obsessed girls, love to have long and bold-looking lashes. My absolute favorite is Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but it costs twenty three dollars a tube. Other favorites include Giogi Armani's Eyes to Kill, Guerlain Noir G Mascara, and Urban Decay Perversion, but these all range in cost from twenty to fifty dollars a tube. Fortunately, from purchasing and experiencing myself, I have five mascaras to recommend that perform very well for a cost that won't break your bank.
1. L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara ($8)
From my experience with this product, I think its name is mistaken. When I wore this mascara, it did not appear to give you a "Million Lashes," but it did give my lashes beautiful and extensive length. This mascara would be a great choice for someone who enjoys a natural look with their makeup but still wants their lashes to pop and stand out, and it also does a great job at avoiding clumps.
2. Maybelline's Falsies Big Eyes Mascara ($7)
This mascara is another great choice for the natural look, but it gives a slightly bolder look. If you have small or squinty eyes, this mascara will help make them look bigger and more prominent. There are two separate brushes in this mascara: one for the lower lashes and one for the upper lashes. The brushes are sized in a way that is convenient for putting on the mascara while avoiding poking yourself in the eye.
3. Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Volumizing Mascara ($6)
I have been a big fan of Hard Candy Pencil Eyeliner, and this is what led me to discover Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Volumizing. This mascara does have a bit of an issue with clumping, but it is not a huge problem as long as you are careful about it. The mascara creates an instantly intense, bold look on your lashes. If you like to mix it up and use colors other brown or black on your lashes, this mascara comes in multiple colors such as blue and purple.
4. Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Mascara ($6)
Many people are familiar with Maybelline Colossal Mascara, but Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Mascara is twice as effective as the original Colossal. The original Colossal Mascara is designed to amplify your lashes 8X, but the Pumped Up Colossal Mascara doubles the design to amplify your lashes 16X. I am a huge fan of this mascara myself, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is wanting a bold, thick, and long lash look.
5. Maybelline Lash Sensational ($7)
First of all, there are two different versions of Maybelline Lash Sensational. The one I am referring to in this article is the Pink/Pearl tube and NOT the black tube (I have used the black tube on a few occasions, and I have never been please with the results). The Pink/Pearl tube does a wonderful job at lengthening and thickening lashes without clumping. This is what I have been using for the past few months, and I have been getting many compliments on my lashes. This is also great for those of you who like to wear multiple coats of mascara.
