One of my favorite things to do when I’m bored on a nice summer day is take my dog to a park. That way I get to enjoy the weather and so does she! There are so many dog parks in the greater Bucks County area, so it’s hard to find one that we both like. Here are a few that my dog, Oswin, and I have come to love.
1. Falls Township Dog Park, Levittown PA 19054
My favorite thing about this park is that it is a normal park. There’s a labeled track to walk, run or bike; there are basketball courts, tennis courts and even field hockey. There’s the small and large dog park with a lake in the middle. So when I take Oswin to this park, we can walk around the lake, she can wade in the water as she likes to cool down and then we can end the afternoon by playing in the dog park. We usually go here at least once a week.
2. Lloyd Park, Downingtown PA 19335
While this park is mostly fenced in, it is not completely closed off for pups. My favorite thing about this park is that it is 30 acres of brush, mud and grass with a creek running throughout the middle of it. So I suggest if you plan to spend the day here, bring several towels. The park is super big, so keep an eye on your pup. Although, some may not do the same, so be mindful of not just your dog but others. Overall, the creek running through has got to be the best part of this park. Oswin certainly thinks so.
3. Core Creek Park, Langhorne PA 19047
This dog park offers a small and large dog section, each closed off unless you have an access card. You can pay a yearly fee to gain an access card, and you also have to provide a valid dog license and current rabies shot information. So while you do have to pay for membership, you know that every dog yours meets is up-to-date on shots. This is really comforting as a dog parent. But this is also a really nice human park with tennis courts and walking trails, and the creek running through. You can even rent kayaks in the summer, but I don't think they let the dogs have that much fun. It's a really nice park overall.
4. Timber Creek Park, Blackwood NJ 08012
Within the 60-acre people park with trails and water running through, there is a fenced-in, 9-acre dog park. There used to be a small lake in the middle, but they filled it in. Oswin would have loved the lake in the middle, but the first time we went, it had already been filled. Just outside of the fenced-in part you can touch water, so Oswin still enjoys playing there. This is a very spacious park that Oswin like to run along the perimeter of.
5. Morrisville Dog Park, Morrisville PA 19067
Right where I live there is a cute little dog park that is currently under construction and renovations. Before they began, I would take Oswin here and she could run around for a bit. There wasn’t much to this park, but they’ve planted trees for shade, added benches, and placed stones at the entrance to get rid of the mud. They’ve really started to clean up this park and make it really nice for visiting pups. Highly suggest for a simple day of exercise for your pup!
For the most part, all these parks are free and they have something really cool for pups and people. My favorite thing about the summer is going on little day trip adventures but with Oswin it’s that much more fun. And if I'm being honest, this article was about showing off how cute Oswin is. She loves our little adventures, but loves the camera a bit more!
