After the stress of finals is released at the submission of your final paper, you pack up and hurry home, hoping to get as far away from school as possible. A few days later, your relaxation period has set in, but you may be finding yourself a bit bored—but if you're anywhere near Columbus, you're in luck! These five Columbus Christmas events are cheap fun for the whole family!

1. Easton Holiday Carriage Rides

Head over to Easton's shopping district and enjoy a carriage ride through the snow. Admission is $10 and rides run from 6 PM-10 PM on Friday and Saturdays until December 23 (if you have siblings under the age of 15, they ride for free!).

2. Merry & Bright Nights at the Franklin Park Conservatory

If you're a Columbus native, you've likely visited the conservatory while on an elementary school field trip—but this time around, you'll be searching for Christmas lights instead of foliage and butterflies. Admission runs from $7-$14, and holiday events crowd the FPC calendar. Breakfast with Santa, cookie baking with Mrs. Claus, gingerbread competitions, and musical performances fill up the entire month of December.

3. Grand Illumination of the Scioto Mile

Free of charge, the Scioto Mile is lit with over 200,000 lights for a Christmas display you don't want to miss. Bundle up, take a stroll through the mile's paths, and enjoy the lights.

4. Christmas Corner

Opening November 30 and running on select weekends throughout the holiday season, the Christmas Corner provides musical entertainment, hot chocolate sales, and a life-sized nativity.

5. "Christmas in Columbus: A Holiday Adventure" A Columbus Musical

Running from December 8-18 at 8:30 pm, plus Matinees at 3 pm on December 10, 11 and 18th at The Garden Theatre in the Short North is this original musical set in our town during the most enchanting time of the year. The plot? One of Santa’s elves has missed the Polar Express back to the North Pole and it’s up to some local children to show him all the magic our city has to offer in December. While this event is the most expensive on our cheap list (tickets for adults running for $20 and $12 for children), this show will provide fun for the whole family!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
