Top 35 Lessons I've Learned From My Older Sister
Nicole Grace

Growing up with both an older sister and a younger sister (along with an older brother), I learned the value of friendship very early on. Most of all, though, I learned from my older sister. And while I have made a list of only 35 lessons, there are so many more I could write- but that list would never end. I can never put into words how thankful I am for the relationships I have with my sisters.

1. You are not defined by high school

2. Boys are not the be-all-end-all

3. Love your siblings, no matter what

4. The friends you have at one point in life may not be with you forever

5. Make time for yourself, even if you don’t want to

6. Never sacrifice yourself for someone who doesn’t deserve it

7. Love your younger sister with everything you have

8. Popularity is not the ultimate goal

9. You don’t have to have your whole life figured out right now

10. You can’t please everyone

11. College is the time to meet your bridesmaids, not your husband

12. Know your own value in life

13. Sisters are far more than just blood relatives; they’re also friends

14. Learn how to laugh at yourself

15. Learn the beauty of a peaceful beach day

16. While make-up is great, you don’t always need it

17. That being said, be proud of your beauty choices

18. Our parents love us, they’re not out to get us

19. Bad things will happen, but you can’t let them ruin your life

20. Don’t brag, it’s not attractive

21. Don’t lose your childish nature

22. Drinking in college can be fun, but you don’t have to do it

23. Sometimes people don’t want your help, and you have to respect that

24. Enjoy the opportunities you are offered in college

25. When you date someone, don’t lose yourself in the relationship

26. Know the importance of a fun and healthy balance between exercise and ice cream nights

27. You can’t spend your life fearing bullies

28. Appreciate the lessons learned from 80s and 90s rom-coms

29. You don’t need a huge friend group

30. You’re allowed to do sports; be good at school; or do anything you want

31. Family matters above all

32. Be your own person; don’t try to be like anyone else

33. It took time for us to get closer; not because we didn’t want to be close, but because we needed to experience similar things in order to understand each other

34. Sisters fight; but we will always love each other

35.There will never be enough moments in life to say “I love you.” So take advantage of each opportunity

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
