Summer is a time to de-stress from the hectic and overwhelming lives we live. One way to step outside of reality is to drive, and if you drive without music on I don't know what you're doing. Growing up has allowed me to discover my music preferences, and to realize that liking only one genre of music is limiting. Having broadened my horizons, here is a list of twenty songs to set your summer driving playlist. Keep in mind the best time for each of these songs to be played (which I listed with each song). Also remember that no matter how old or new a song is, these are sure to create a positive energy.
1. "Telepgraph Ave." ("Oakland" by Lloyd) by Childish Gambino
Best for driving to a beach or island, sets a somewhat tropical vibe.
2. "Five More Hours" by Deorro & Chris Brown
Best for driving with friends, must be prepared for dancing and beat dropping.
3. "Parking Lot Party" by Lee Brice
Best for weekend, day time partying. Tailgates, beer, and a good time.
4. "679" by Fetty Wap feat. Remy Boyz
Best for mood lifting, allows for singing and dancing along.
5. "Show Me / Paranoid Remix" by Mike Stud
Best of the remixes, includes original content as well as the original popular song lyrics.
6. "Robbers" by The 1975
Best for a mellow and inspirational mood, sparks thoughts of young and passionate love.
7. "The Hills" by The Weeknd
Best for incredible bass beating throughout the car, and for feeling just a little badass.
8. "No Love (Remix)" by August Alsina feat. Nicki Minaj
Best for the ladies, Nicki allows us to get in our feelings about that guy who played us.
9. "We Found Love" by Rihanna
Best for a hopeful romantic, but with that extra beat drop so it's not too serious.
10. "2 On (Remix)" by Tinashe feat. Jim Jones & Drake
Best of the guy/girl duets, it is a good mix of slowing it down but keeping the upbeat energy.
11. "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds
Best of the oldies, allows for dramatic singing and acting along with thoughts of "The Breakfast Club" in our minds.
12. "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root
Best for long trips, has a catchy beat and became pretty famous from having played in the movie "Ice Age" (and who doesn't love that movie).
13. "Sweet Life" by Frank Ocean
Best for lyrics, although it's a bit of a slower song it provides images through the lyrics that are perfect for summer.
14. "6 Man" by Drake
Best when you need a reminder of how strong and intense you can be if you want to be.
15. "Wagon Wheel" by Darius Rucker
Best for playing really loudly, singing along (more like screaming), and swaying to the beat.
16. "Best Love Song" by T-Pain feat. Chris Brown
Best for helping you forget about heartbreak, blast this one when you just want to be happy.
17. "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners
Best for head bobbing, and instantly putting a smile on everyone's face.
18. "Feel Like Party'n" by Kalin and Myles
Best for falling in love with the singers, these two are not only attractive but have amazing songs.
19. "Hold Yuh (remix)" by Gyptian feat. Nicki Minaj
Best of the reggae beats, play this any time of year to remind you of the warmer weather.
20. "Knee Deep" by Zac Brown Band feat. Jimmy Buffett
The ultimate summer song, a must-listen to at least once a week. Trust me, it's worth it.
