I recently read an article here on Odyssey by Abigail Adams from 2016 titled "The 20 Best Episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. I
consider myself a Spongebob fanatic, and I felt that she left out a few important episodes. This is written in the same format as her article. Also, this might be in the top 5 of the hardest things that I have ever done.
There are just too many good episodes and I could easily do a list of my top 50, but here is my list of the twenty best Spongebob episodes:
20. Something Smells (Season 2)
After making quite the smelly sundae, Spongebob finds himself with a case of bad breath. This repels fish away from him, but he has no idea why. Patrick tries to help his friend, and hilarity ensues.
19. Your Shoe's Untied (Season 2)
When his best friend Patrick needs help tying his shoes, Spongebob offers his assistance. He soon realizes that he can't remember how to tie his own shoes. This creates a problem for the Sponge. That is, until his trusty snail Gary teaches him how.
18. No Weenies Allowed (Season 3)
Spongebob tries his best to get into the Salty Spittoon, but he is repeatedly told by the bouncer "Reg" that he isn't tough enough. After a trip to Weenie Hut Jr.'s, Spongebob and Patrick come up with a plan for them to fight and Spongebob to win. After a string of events, he finally makes it into the Salty Spittoon just to slip on an ice cube.
17. Whale of a Birthday (Season 4)
Mr. Krabs' little girl is no longer a little girl. It is Pearl's 16th birthday, and after being picked on by friends, Pearl begs her dad to throw her a great party. Krabs puts Spongebob in charge of getting Pearl the perfect gift, which includes a boat and a private concert from her favorite band.
16. The Chaperone (Season 1)
In one of the earlier episodes of the franchise, Pearl needs a date to the prom. Mr.Krabs asks Spongebob and of course he accepts. After getting prepped, Spongebob picks up Pearl for the big night. Everything than could go wrong, does. But in the end, everyone ends up happy.
15. Krusty Love (Season 2)
Mr. Krabs falls in love with Mrs. Puff, and asks Spongebob to purchase gifts for her. He then tells Spongebob that he is spending all of his money, but then tells him to buy her more.
14. Opposite Day (Season 1)
Squidward is fed up with his childish neighbors and decided to put his house up for sale. He tricks SpongeBob and Patrick into thinking that it's opposite day. They dress up like Squidward and pretend to be him when the relator arrives.
13. Sailor Mouth (Season 2)
While taking out the trash, SpongeBob finds a bad word written on the dumpster. He and Patrick start to use bad words regularly. Mr. Krab's yells at the boys to knock it off. They do well, until a tense game of Escalators and Eels. Patrick runs off to tell Krab's and they all get in trouble with his mother.
12. Frankendoodle (Season 2)
A pencil falls from the sky (actually from an artist on a boat) right down into Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob uses this pencil to draw a new SpongeBob, or Doodlebob as they like to call him. Well, Doodlebob goes crazy and SpongeBob and Patrick have to stop him.
11. The Camping Episode (Season 3)
It is time for Patrick and SpongeBob's yearly camping trip and Squidward couldn't be more excited. But instead of going away, they camp out outside their houses. Squidward investigated and soon decides to join them. After a wonderful song, Squidward messes with them in trying to draw what he thinks as a fake Seabear to the camping sight. What he thought was fake, was definitely real.
10. Graveyard Shift (Season 2)
The famous Hash-Slinging Slasher episode. When Mr.Krabs decides to stay open all night Squidward and SpongeBob have to work the night shift. Squidward tells SpongeBob of the Hash-Slinging Slasher trying to get him all worked up, and he scares himself in the process when the Slasher arrives.
9. Ripped Pants (Season 1)
One of the earlier episodes in the series, SpongeBob is at Goo Lagoon with Sandy Cheeks. While trying to lift weights (two marshmallows on a stick) he ends up accidentally ripping his pants and gets huge laughs from Sandy, Larry, and everyone else. This becomes the plot for the whole episode, in which he rips them over and over again.
8. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy IV (Season 3)
I wumbo. You wumbo. He, she, we wumbo. Wumbology, the study of wumbo. It's elementary SpongeBob!
7. One Krabs Trash (Season 3)
SpongeBob finds a special hat at a yard sale. Krabs wants it and tells him that it was once owned by Smitty Werbenmanjenson. He tries to get SpongeBob to give it back to him.
6. Pizza Delivery (Season 1)
When a customer calls wanting pizza, Mr. Krabs does not disappoint. It is up to Squidward and SpongeBob to deliver the first ever Krusty Krab pizza.
5. Krusty Krab Training Video (Season 3)
This is the episode where we all learn the ropes of working at the Kristy Krab and what it means to wear that hat. Hoopla!
4. New Student Starfish (Season 3)
When SpongeBob decides to bring Patrick to boating school with him, they get themselves in all kinds of trouble. But they did tell us what was funnier than 24...25.
3. Ugh (Season 3)
The top three episodes are obviously what I think to be the best and most iconic episodes ever made. In this one, we travel back to B.C. with Spongar, Patar, and Squag and see their first time with fire. Oh, and this episode also has Patchy the Pirate, SpongeBob's biggest fan!
2. Chocolate with Nuts (Season 3)
When Patrick and SpongeBob decide to try out fancy living, they start selling the only obvious thing for fish to sell -- chocolate.
1. Band Geeks (Season 2)
And coming in as the best episode of SpongeBob ever is the Band Geeks episode. This really doesn't need an explaination, but let's say that this is the episode that taught me that mayonnaise and horseradish are not instruments.
All Hail the Magic Conch!!
