Growing up, my parents were always really into showing me older music. My obsession most certainly started out with going to a Def Leppard concert when I was in third grade, and from there I was hooked. This summer I have been all about keeping up with the new music trends, but these are some songs that definitely need to make your summer playlists:
1) Nothin' But a Good Time - Poisen
The song really speaks for itself. It is super upbeat and gets you moving and grooving! It is a great song for blasting out the car speakers and banging your head to.
2) Heaven - Warrent
This song is a little slower but still packs tune. It is a great song to sing a long to when you're feeling nostalgic.
3) Juke Box Hero - Foreigner
Juke Box Hero sings a classic tale of an under dog rising to achieve his dreams. It's upbeat and make you wanna grab an air guitar and start your own band.
4) Cum On Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot
Great song to blast!! It makes you wanna get up and jump around and do the old safety dance you probably hear your parents talking about.
5) Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
A true classic, Bon Jovi is in the history books for this song. Who doesn't wanna be a motorcycle ridin' cowboy?
6) Hooked In a Feeling - Blue Swede
A lighter more peppy song, but it is perfect for airy car rides and watching sunsets with your favorite person.
7) Sister Christian - Night Ranger
Do not let the piano intro fool you. This song really knows how to jam. Even though it's an oldie, I am sure many people can still relate to it.
8) Waiting for a Girl Like You - Foreigner
This song makes you feel nostalgic. Its got a great tune, but is also good for those kick back summer nights staring at the stars and just contemplating, well, everything.
9) Escape (The Piña Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes
How could I NOT put this song on here? Almost every single person knows this song. And rightfully so! A great song to sing a long to with your pals or alone in your room. (Grab a hairbrush)
10) Come and Get Your Love - Redbone
Super peppy and upbeat, this song makes you wanna dance on your toes and do your perfect "come and get me" sassy dance.
11) I Want You Back - Jackson 5
Do I even need to explain? Sunny summer days will never feel the same once you experience the energy and happiness you find listening to this song.
12) Moonage Daydream - David Bowie
You are truly missed Bowie. This tune needs no description on how amazing it is.
Not all of these songs mesh together and nor are they good for every occasion. Pick a few out and give it a test ride and maybe, just maybe, you will find your perfect summer playlist. This is for sure a huge part of mine!
