While I reflect over this year, I like to reminisce over the top pop hits. Who released new music? What music videos stood out? Who made a comeback? Who collaborated with who? Which songs continued to be top hits from last year? This has been a big year for music from Taylor Swift's 1989 praise to Adele's sensational comeback. Here is a list of my top choices in the pop music genre of 2015.
1. Downtown
"It's me, the M the A-C the K" It's my favorite line in the song. Have you watched the music video? Do you remember that Ryan Lewis kind of looked like a bird? I just don't understand what he was going for.
2. Stitches
Shawn Mendes became the new Justin Bieber. I love this song and even his acoustic version with Hailee Steinfeld. "And now that I'm without your kisses/I'll be needing stitches"
3. Hello
"Hello, it's me" With these three words, Adele's comeback was genius.
4. Drag Me Down
It was a hard year for One Direction. They lost one of their best singers of the group. "Drag Me Down" was the first single without Zane. "Nobody can drag me down" They were right. Not even losing Zane, would destroy One Direction's spark.
5. Nobody Love
I don't think Tori Kelly earned enough praise this year. She has a beautiful voice and some great songs. 'Nobody Love' is a great song pump up song. "Everybody’s looking for that something/No one ever wants to pay the price"
6. Bad Blood
"Cause baby now we got bad blood/You know it used to be mad love" No one can stand between Taylor Swift and her squad.
7. Thinking Out Loud
"And, darling, I will be loving you 'til we're 70/And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23." All I can say is "Wow." Ed Sheeran knows how to melt a girl's heart.
8. What Do You Mean?
Justin Bieber finally had a comeback. His popularity returned. Whenever someone says, "What do you mean?" I have to continue the lyrics and sing, "When you nod your head yes/But you wanna say no?"
9. All About That Bass
"Because you know I'm all about that bass/'Bout that bass, no treble" Meghan Trainor became a role model for girls everywhere in the world regarding body image with this catchy hit.
10. Levels
Joe Jonas tried to go solo. But he failed. But another Jonas Brother succeeded. "I know, we can get higher/There's levels to your love" Yes, Nick Jonas raised to the top with his album this year. "Levels" was one of my favorite songs on the album.
Before the New Year comes, take a listen to these top pop hits of 2015!
