If you're from New England, you definitely know what a snow day is. Having a day (or more) off from work, school, and other responsibilities can be really fun... or really boring. Here are some productive and not so productive things you can do to make your snow day even better.
1. Cook/Bake Something
Today is the day to let out your inner 5-star chef. No need to worry about how long you have to clean up a messy kitchen after because you have all day. So go ahead and make all of those recipes you've been saving on Facebook and don't forget dessert!
2. Get Outside
Do you wanna build a snowman? Or an igloo? Or have a snowball fight? Or go sledding? There is so much you can do in the snow if you use your imagination. And just think about how great it's going to feel when you get back inside and cuddle up with a warm blanket and some hot chocolate! Don't forget to include your pup!
3. Get Yourself Back on Track
You were just granted an entire day to catch up on everything you're behind on. Don't let it go to waste. Finish all those assignments that keep piling up or even get ahead on your work. It will be completely worth it when you don't feel stressed out of your mind the following week.
4. Clean the House
So maybe this isn't at the top of everyone's list but it can actually be a pretty good stress reliever. Crank up your favorite tunes and dance with the broom (no one's watching). And when you turn house from trashy to classy, the outcome will be totally satisfying.
5. Catch Up With Some Old Friends and Family
You might not be able to meet up for a coffee but you still have a phone. FaceTime some high school friends that went off to different colleges, call mom and dad (you know they miss seeing you every day), or Skype your grandparents (nothing could make a grandparents day better than getting to see/talk to their grandkids!)
6. Binge Watch Your Favorite Netflix Shows
This is probably everyone's go to on a snow day but maybe you're running out of shows to watch. Here are some ideas to get you started (if you haven't already watched them):
Parks and Rec
Raising Hope
Gotham
Stranger Things
The OA
New Girl
7. Movie Marathon
Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Disney, Hunger Games...the possibilities are endless.
8. Board Games

The thought of playing any board game might make most people cringe but if you're playing the right game with the right people this is always fun. Break out some Cards Against Humanity or dare I say, Monopoly. Feel free to change up the rules to make it more interesting.
9. Build a Fort
It doesn't matter how old you are, if building a fort made of blankets and furniture doesn't sound like a good time, you need to let a little fun back into your life. Plus this is a great idea if you have kids or your stuck babysitting for the day. Even if it's just you and your friends, this could still make for a great time. Let out your inner child!
10. Treat Yo Self
Maybe you can't go out on a shopping spree or relax at an upscale spa, but a nice warm candle-lit bubble bath with relaxing music still sounds pretty nice. Don't stop there though. Paint your nails, put on a face mask, this day is all about YOU.
P.S. If you don't understand this reference, you really need to add Parks and Rec to your Netflix Binge.
