Binge watching is not just something we do for procrastination, or background noise for whatever the kids are doing nowadays; it's a way of life. Since Netflix launched, we have had amazing access to new and old television shows and movies. Then, when we thought it could not get any better, Netflix came out with original shows and that just turned the world upside down. Sometimes, I think some of these shows can go overlooked, or some just have not gotten on the band wagon that some of these have definitely developed. You will probably see some familiar and then some not so familiar. So if these shows have already been on your radar then you, my friend, are doing something right in your life.
1. "Nikita."
Spies, assassins, corrupt government funded institutions, all the makings of a great action packed show starring the beautiful and ever amazing, Maggie Q. From 2010 to 2013, "Nikita" ruled the CW as one of the best action shows on television. A government operation called Division has gone rogue and an infamous assassin, Nikita works from the inside out to shut it down. This show keeps us on the edge of our seats every episode which makes it perfect for binge watching. While the show was only on for four seasons, it made up for the brevity by giving up some great acting talent, action packed fight scenes, and a constant want to know what happens next. So, in no particular order, here's what you should be binge watching on Netflix.
2. "Fuller House."
Everyone has seen "Full House," like literally everyone. And now, the highly anticipated sequel series, "Fuller House," is here and everything we loved about the original is back too. Besides the Olsen twins, who become the butt of a hilarious joke in the first episode, the entire Tanner family has returned, Uncle Jesse and all. A lot has changed character-wise for these characters. DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) has decided to move back home with her two sons after her fire fighter husband dies. This tragedy brings the family together and we quickly see that the ties between these classic characters has not changed a bit. Approved for a second season less than a week after being released, "Fuller House" is perfect for anyone looking for a nostalgic laugh.
3. "Seven Deadly Sins."
For all of you anime freaks out there, do I have a treat for you. "The Seven Deadly Sins" is a new anime exclusively for Netflix. It has it all: humor, action, sexual innuendos, all things that come together to create a amazing anime. While I'm not usually into it, I could not stop watching this show and even went back and watch a second and a third time. The Seven Deadly Sins must come together and fight against a corrupt kingdom, but they have been painted as war criminals by the knights and have since disbanded. See what happens next on this Netflix exclusive.
4. "Chelsea Does..."
If you are not familiar with Chelsea Handler, go out and educate yourself. She is one of the funniest comediennes out there today and after wrapping up her late night show on E! Network, she released a stand up on Netflix called, "Uganda Be Kidding Me." Back again, Chelsea has released her docu-series, "Chelsea Does...," where she tackles social issues through four episodes including racism, marriage, technology, and drugs. Though there is not an abundance of episodes, this series can truly make your lazy Sunday great through laughter and also learning some life lessons. You will not regret watching this. Disclaimer: Chelsea is known for using some pretty outlandish humor that is borderline controversial. That being said, give her a chance. I did and I do not regret it at all.
5. "The 100."
Truly, one of the best sci-fi shows you can watch. "The 100" is about humanity in the future when all of mankind has been forced into a space station due to nuclear warfare making Earth unlivable. When a group of 100 teenagers is sent to see if the Earth is still toxic, the story begins. Turmoil eventually ensues and we are left with two seasons (currently) to find out what happens. I highly recommend this show if you enjoy cliff-hanging episodes, but that will not be a problems since you will be binge watching until your eyes burn.
6. "Bates Motel."
Prequels are truly the perfect binge tool, and "Bates Motel" proves it. In this prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's, "Psycho" (1960), we see exactly what makes Norman Bates tick, black outs and a strange relationship with his mother. With an all star cast including Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, and Max Thieriot, the trio brings thrilling to a new light. Three seasons of twists and turns, and everything in between, for your viewing pleasure.
7. "Grace and Frankie."
Jane Fonda, royalty, the Queen, is back and even more funny than "Monster in Law." "Grace and Frankie" is a hilarious show about about two women whose husbands leave them -- for each other! Fonda aside, this show has an amazing cast also including Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen, and Sam Waterston. Fonda's sarcasm and Tomlin's "I don't care" attitude create a perfect frienemy duo.
8. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schimdt."
Tina Fey has come up some brilliant scripts before but this one might take the cake. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," about a girl who escapes a cult and finds herself living in New York City, has an endless amount of laughs for everyone. Ellie Kemper brings her quirky comedic style that we saw all too well in "Bridesmaids" and "The Office" and transforms into a breakout character. With a second season coming out in April, this is the perfect time to binge this awesomely hilarious show.
9. "New Girl."
If you have not watched "New Girl," then you are seriously disturbed. Zooey Deschanel has truly come into herself as an actress with this role, and we absolutely love her for it. Just one episode of the season seasons available on Netflix will have you falling in love with Jess and her three male roommates, maybe not Schmidt (second from the right).
10. "House of Cards."
Corrupt politics, Jenny from "Forrest Gump," and Kevin Spacey. What else do any of us need? "House of Cards" is truly nail biter, if there ever was one, and it continues to show us how messed up government policy can be. You all are in luck because the fourth season was just released a couple of days ago. It has definitely held its own in the television world with an astounding nine Primetime Emmy nominations.
There you have it! Basically, you can kiss your social life goodbye with these shows. Until next time -- happy bingeing!
