Top 10 Series On Netflix To Binge This Break
Huffington Post

With Christmas break upon us, many of us have a ton of time on our hands relaxing and recovering for our fall semester. People have different ways of relaxing, but one thing that many of us have in common is our love of Netflix. Nothing better than sitting down for hours at a time binge watching a new show, minus the sadness that hits after you finally finish said show. So now that we all have a month off, here are my personal top 10 shows to binge watch on Netflix.

1. The Office

A taste of comedy to start us out, The Office is an insanely popular show with all nine seasons on Netflix. For those who don't know, the series is filmed in the style of a mockumentary following a small paper company in Pennsylvania. It's funny and touching and all around an amazing series.

2. Parks and Recreation

Very similar to The Office, Parks and Recreation is a super popular sitcom with an amazing cast. With stars like Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari and Chris Pratt, you're sure to be pleased.

3. Orange is the New Black

Orange is the New Black is a Netflix original series that did incredibly well and has another season on the way. The first four seasons are filled with drama, and it will keep you guessing, but still throw in a few laughs here and there. With such intense characters and backstories, it draws you in from the beginning.

4. Stranger Things

Another Netflix original, Stranger Things came out just this year and it was an immediate hit. In a small town with tons of mystery focused around three young boys who are on the hunt to figure things out. With a paranormal feel to it, Stranger Things is definitely something different to add to your list on Netflix.

5. Portlandia

A sketch comedy that pokes fun at the wonderful and weird city of Portland, Oregon and it's inhabitants. With quick sketches and a quirky comedy, Portlandia will be sure to keep you laughing.

6. Friends

With all 10 seasons of a classic TV show like Friends on Netflix, it really is a must watch. Though it is quite a commitment, the drama and antics that these friends get into are sure to keep you entertained.

7. Bob's Burgers

A cartoon family running their own restaurant dealing with their very odd kids and everything their town has to throw at them. It's a slightly stupid but funny show that's easy to get lost in and very easy to get addicted to.

8. Family Guy

Of course, if I put in Bob's Burgers, I had to put in Family Guy. Another stupid yet funny show, though with 14 season on Netflix, it isn't something I would necessarily recommend binge watching, but maybe as a bit of mind-numbing TV in between your other shows.

9. Master of None

Master of None is another Netflix original written by comedian Aziz Ansari who also stars in it. It isn't a huge commitment with only 10 episodes, focusing around a 30-year-old in New York just living his life.

10. Black Mirror

Black Mirror is a futuristic sci-fi series with only 12 episodes between the 3 seasons. Each episode follows it's own plot and is a much darker series than those mentioned before. The series itself is actually a rework of The Twilight Zone.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
