However, for the shows who have taken a chance on the following romances, the viewers are very grateful. These couples have sparked conversations about the LGBT community and have allowed for further progression towards equality for both on and off screen. 1. Spencer & Ashley, “South of Nowhere”
They were young and experiencing their first love, all while defending their relationship from the negativity that surrounded them. Spashley forever.
2. Brittany & Santana, “Glee”
This relationship is the reason why the show was so worthwhile. From pouring out their hearts to each other in song to the real experience of coming out, this couple put every viewer through the ringer.
3. Blaine & Kurt, “Glee”
Their coming together may not have been as shocking to the audience like Brittany and Santana's relationship, but we were definitely blessed to see these two as happy as they made each other.
4. Alex & Piper, “Orange is the New Black”
These two have been on and off since season one. They may not be a match made in heaven, but they sure are cute together.
5. Naomi & Emily, “Skins”
Probably the most well-executed and organic relationship in TV history. Their love will always be magic.
6. Sophia & Crystal, “Orange is the New Black”
This couple is so important. They sparked a lot of conversation in the transgender community. It’s not easy coming to terms with your partner discovering themselves. But Crystal respected and loved her enough to support Sophia's transition. They may not be romantically together, but they still communicate openly and raise their son together as a unit.
7. Mitchell & Cameron, “Modern Family”
Mitchell and Cameron are by far the most hilarious pair on the list. They make the perfect trio with their adorable daughter Lily, and have set the highest family goals in the existence of family goals.
8. Ray & Kevin, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”
They may not scream it, but they love each other.
9. Callie & Arizona, “Grey’s Anatomy”
This couple has been through more than any couple in TV history. From infidelity to amputation, Calzona struggled through anything and everything that was thrown at them. These characters are living proof that no one is safe in Shondaland.

Definitely the most unexpected couple in Degrassi’s history. However, like other couples on the list, this relationship sparked much conversation towards bisexuality and emotional connections between friends. It also gave viewers a chance to see Paige truly happy for the first time in a while.
