Every episode has something new and unexpected in store. Even though our favorite characters are always getting killed off, we can't stop watching.
1. Derek and Meredith's first encounter
The very first time the power couple met, and the rest is history.
2. Denny's death
The episode that ripped everyone's heart to shreds and then some. Denny eventually loses his tough battle and Izzy doesn't leave the bathroom floor for days.
3. Dr. Bailey almost misses her wedding.
Webber's wife Adele comes in having heart problems and, of course, Bailey is first to assist without second thought as she leaves her wedding dress in the ER.
4. Derek and Meredith's engagement
In the midst of the craziness of the John Doe incident, they can't find time to get to the courthouse. When they finally get a second together, they write their vows on sticky notes in the break room.
5. The wedding that almost was
Cristina's family and peers wait in the church as she questions her decision to marry Burke. He leaves the church after confirming that she wasn't ready.
6. John Doe
The hospital receives a patient who ran in front of a bus to save a person on the streets, but he is unidentifiable until he traces 007 on Meredith's hand. The whole hospital (and everyone watching) is shaken when they find out it was really George O'Malley.
7. Candle house
After a ton of ups and downs between Meredith and Derek, Meredith lays out the layout of their new house with candles and creates possibly the most romantic scene on the show.
8. Karev's orphan project
Alex shows his soft side when he brings orphans from Africa to the hospital to perform life-saving surgeries. Not to mention, this is when Meredith and Derek found their first child, Zola.
9. Plane crash
The episode that sucked the life out of every Grey's fan. Need I say more?
10. Derek's death
After a brutal collision with a tractor trailer, Derek is in bad shape. Meredith pulls the plug and life as we know it as Grey's fans is over.
Let's be honest, if I really wrote about every iconic moment, I would have to write about every episode. We thought the show was going to die after one of its best characters did, but here we are on Season 13, and it's still getting better.
